"The hotel was lovely, superbly located, meters from Westgate. The problem was we were promised a room that would not overlook the parking lot. We came back 2 times, at 12:00 and 2:30, but they said the room was still not ready, that we had to wait till 3 o’clock. We had tickets to punt down the river at 3 so could not stay, but immediately upon finishing it returned to the hotel. To our surprise they then took us to a room that overlooked the parking lot! We asked to be changed and they took us to a tiny room that overlooked a small patio, that was right beside the communal terrace, so quite noisy. It was not what we had hoped for. Having said that, the room and bathroom were pretty and clean, the breakfast was good and the location superb."
"Staff were kind and helpful, and location is great. Room was perfectly serviceable for a night, although sloping roof meant it was impossible to stand in the bathtub. Stayed in early May and it was very hot and stuffy in the room, with only a tiny fan that didn't work very well - no aircon, but that's just how it goes with historic buildings, so can't really complain! Continental breakfast selection was small - if it was a paid extra it would be quite disappointing, but considering it was included in the price of the room then it was okay."
"The room was very clean had a nice comfy bed we felt well rested the following morning ,The staff were very friendly, the breakfast was absolutely delicious..definitely stay there again."
"Amazing location, right in the centre of Canterbury, actually built into the cathedral gate. We were made to feel really welcome by all the staff. Given a choice of rooms and early check-in. Very interesting building with lots of steps and wonky floors, would not recommend if you are infirm.
Room had a wonderful view of the cathedral, but was very quiet. Lovely hot and powerful shower. Room and all shared areas were clean and well decorated, carpets clean too.
Breakfast was really good, it was continental plus! Good fruit fresh salad, porridge and croissants were amazing. Coffee was strong and fresh, orange juice excellent too, all quality products "
"Lovely breakfasts that catered for my changes without any problem. The staff provided good directions to our stay when we arrived on the other side of town. Parking was great and the location perfext"
"Toilet situation misleading - I thought I booked an en-suite with shower i.e. rather than a bath. It was a shower in the corner of the room. Shared toilet down the landing!! - glad my wife wasn’t with me on this trip!!! This wouldn’t have been so bad had there been more toilet paper. Zero information in room e.g. wi-fi code. Nobody to speak with at the property - there was an emergency number - fortunately there was a Tesco express close-by. "
