"Unfortunately this stay was incredibly let down by the cleanliness and hygiene of the hotel. When we arrived to our room the smell was unbearable and felt like it was pumping out the air con (which was gross inside). The floor had dirt all over it, to the point where we weren’t comfortable being bear foot in our room. The shower was dirty and covered in limescale (the water also took about 10 minutes to warm up). We stayed here for 3 nights (each day leaving our do not disturb off), not once was our room cleaned. The breakfast wasn’t great, the first morning we went down to find multiple tables with dead flies on them. The food was so salty, and the healthy options were lacking (the fruit pieces being still partly frozen). And then the nail in the coffin was the rats living in the ceiling 🙃🙃 Which would make an appearance just in time to cause a sleepless night! This would be such a nice hotel (the pool is a great addition) if it wasn’t so gross. For its price point these flaws are unacceptable."

"The Royal Sonesta is our home-away-from-home when visiting New Orleans. We love the staff, especially Caleb at the front door. Great location. Historical property. Love "Desires" for oysters. 6 Stars all the time! (Even during Mardi Gras!)"

"This property is clean and very well located for Bourbon Street fun. The room was clean and the staff very nice. Pool was quite nice and pool area comfortable. I did get stuck in the elevator for about 15 minutes, which could have really sucked. They had a problem the previous day also so they need to fix this."

"All facilities and amenities are first class. Staff helpful - door staff, reception, breakfast, room cleaning and concierge (Roy Madden, invaluable) and must mention Kenneth Vogt for his help. This is our hotel for New Orleans and the one we will recommend to friends and family. The hotel is in a very central (but quiet) position for Bourbon Street, Mississippi cruise, St Louis cathedral, bars and restaurants. Nothing to do with the hotel but the city tax was an unwelcome surprise."
