"Room was clean and very big. We had a window that looked at a tree and shrubs, no view of anything but the room and location as well as closing the curtains at night anyway made it a great stay. This hotel , unlike other Holiday Inns and Hiltons in China, take their non smoking policy seriously. It was great not to have to deal with smoking in a non smoking hotel. "
"We booked a five-night stay at the Marriott Maquis on the 32nd floor. The corner room offered a fantastic view of the city, especially the Bund. The light goes up at 6pm and it’s well worth the money. The room was spacious and clean with a comfy bed. Breakfast was served either in the lounge or on the third floor and there were plenty of choices including both Western and Asian dishes.
The hotel was conveniently located right next to Nanjing Road (a five-minute walk) in a busy and vibrant part of the city. Overall, the hotel was lovely but check-in and check-out were quite slow and the lift was unbearable. It was incredibly slow, taking about three to five minutes to travel between floors. This was a deal-breaker for me. "
"This is a classic-style hotel—not modern, but very well maintained and not run-down. The location is very convenient, just one block away from Nanjing Street, with a convenience store right across the street. The room was clean, and the staff were very helpful. I especially appreciated the bathtub and the many elevators, so there was no long wait to go up to the room or down to the lobby. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and highly recommend it."
