We chose the hotel for its proximity to old Quebec and because it had a room with enough beds for my family. Check in was fine and the hotel lobby looked fine although there were staff members smoking at both entrances (in front and back).
When we got to our room in the afternoon we dropped off our bags and went straight to walk around the old town. When we returned after dark. We discovered several issues that should have been taken care of by housekeeping/ maintenance.
- 2 out of 3 lamps in the main room didn’t work - the switch was broken off one and had been left on the desk, and the other lamp had a burned out bulb
- the blackout curtains were partially off the hooks so we had to climb up and rehang them
- there was NO HOT WATER. The following day they told us there had been an issue on the roof?!
-the tv remote did not work and needed to be reprogrammed
- it took half an hour for maintenance to come to our room which meant we were trying to get ready for bed in the partial darkness using our phone flashlights, and then maintenance came in while we were changing for bed.
- an hour later (closer to midnight) another maintenance person knocked on our door “to help set up the bed”. We had not requested this and were woken up unnecessarily
The hotel manager offered to refund parking (? We didn’t have any issues with parking) but not reduce the cost of the room which was over $400. I paid for hot water and light.
