Beautiful Property, Great Service, But Not Quite 5-Star We recently stayed at Secrets Puerto Vallarta and overall had a wonderful, relaxing vacation. The property is beautiful, clean, and the staff is incredibly hospitable and attentive. The lobby has gorgeous views, and the grounds are very well maintained. That said, I’m not sure I would consider this a true 5-star experience. After checking in, we were handed off to “VIP Handlers,” who are essentially sales representatives trying to get guests into a two-hour presentation for their “vacation club,” which felt like a glorified timeshare. We had just traveled, were tired, and clearly said we wanted to get to our room. Despite that, we experienced a very persistent, high-pressure sales pitch and had to say NO several times before we could leave. It was not the welcome we were hoping for. Our room was nice, clean, comfortable, and a little dated. Honestly, cleanliness matters more to me than having the newest furnishings, so that wasn't a major issue. The biggest disappointment was the food. The resort promotes its dining as top-notch, but that wasn't our experience. We’d give the food a C+ overall. Despite those shortcomings, we had an amazing time relaxing, enjoying the pools, having drinks, and taking in the beautiful surroundings. We would absolutely recommend Puerto Vallarta, but based on our experience, Secrets has some room for improvement before I’d consider it a 5-star property.

Beautiful resort and an incredible room, the service did not live up to the luxury experience we expected for our honeymoon. We stayed in a Swim-Out and the room was 10/10. It felt like our own private oasis,with a swim-out shared by only a few rooms. The water was cooler than the main pools. Without this room, our experience would have been average at best. Food was mixed. Capers, Bordeaux and Gohan Sushi Bar were phenomenal, room service was excellent. The buffet was disappointing and was only available on the Dreams/family side. We also found it frustrating that several dining options required leaving the adults-only Secrets property and going to Dreams, where children were present. Our biggest issue was service and communication. The minibar was supposed to be stocked daily with water, Coke and beer, but it repeatedly wasn’t. And were often told it had been restocked when it hadn’t. We also booked a cabana several days in advance, received confirmation, and then discovered the night before that it had been cancelled for maintenance. Nobody contacted us or offered an alternative. The beach was essentially unusable due to relentless vendors approaching us every few minutes, and the sales pressure throughout the resort was excessive. Housekeeping and bartenders were wonderful, and the entertainment was enjoyable. The location was convenient for exploring Puerto Vallarta. Overall, beautiful room and some excellent food, but too many service and communication failures.

I stayed here with my boyfriend for my birthday trip & we absoultely loved this resort! It was super clean, great food, drinks, service & the views were just breath taking. Definitely recommend getting the ocean front view, you won't regret it :) Location was great, only 10 min uber drive into malecon not bad at all & affordable. The pools were okay but I am personally more of a beach person, the water wasn't too clear compared to those in the southern area but still swimable and we were able to enjoy it. Thanks Secrets for making this such an unforgettable trip for us !!

We visited Secrets Vallarta Bay after an incredible week at Secrets Puerto Los Cabos this spring. We do not have children and want to vacation in adults-only, all-inclusive destinations. I also researched many Secrets properties and resorts in Puerto Vallarta. Nothing prepared us for this experience, as I was unaware of what 'Dreams' was and we would be inundated with families during our stay. Room: Preferred Club members assigned to a dirty room on the 3rd floor by the elevators. Construction outside our door the entire time; the room was not clean when we checked in, and fixtures were falling out of the ceiling. Actual blood splatter on the bathroom wall. Food: Phenomenal. Except for the French restaurant. I preordered the soufflé and was offered espresso after a wonderful meal. The espresso arrived in a boiling hot cauldron that gave me a second-degree burn on my lips, straight from the microwave. The soufflé, well, that came over an hour after dinner was over. Avoid the wine room at Capers; you are required to buy a bottle. If you can, pack your own wine. Market Place breakfast was amazing. Pool: So much fun, but unsafe. There is no restroom wayfinding; I got lost and almost got hurt. Floors are always wet, and restrooms are not stocked. Activities are not coordinated well or announced, so we missed out every day. The no-reserving chair rule is unenforced. Landscaping was lacking. The pool needs to be repainted.

The dress code for the French restaurant was VERY strict. My boyfriend wore a business casual sweater and they didn’t allow him in because he wasn’t wearing a shirt with collar, which was a bit ridiculous. The food was good, but not incredible. They tried to upsell us a lot. Other than that, it’s a pretty good experience.

Oh my gosh, the resort was freaking amazing especially on the secret side. We didn’t do a spot because I have an extra hella money like 2000 pesos .staff amazing helpful, hot tubs and the pool made the whole entire vacation and the barefoot Grill and all the restaurants that they had on site

The staff were very helpful and even with language barrier they were the best part of our stay. The people attending to rooms need to be more proactive. We literally had to ask for our room to be cleaned and fridge restocked. They provided coffee machine and cups in the room but no coffee.
