"If you're debating whether to visit Matera as a day trip or stay overnight, this hotel alone is reason enough to stay. We loved every moment and would return in a heartbeat. Sextantio Le Grotte Della Civita in Matera was one of the most unique and unforgettable hotels we've ever stayed in. The property is a beautifully restored series of caves that blend old-world charm with just the right amount of modern comfort, making you feel like you've stepped back in time while still having everything you need. The staff went above and beyond throughout our stay.. from arranging pickup at the parking garage to carrying our luggage to our room, to being incredibly communicative before and during our visit. Dinner and breakfast at the on-site restaurant were both stunning, and after five trips to Italy, we can honestly say the breakfast spread and setting here might be the best we've ever had in the country. - Matt & Monique"

"The view from the door entrance was outstanding probably the best part of this hotel. Breakfast was also great with good and plenty to choose from. Didn't know the spa was separately charged so cannot say it was a great feature. Wifi could be better. We walked down to the hotel but suggest to ask for the shuttle which was very nice."

"Great spot near Matera! Super easy to get to and navigate to Matera. The property was well maintained, the room was nice and the staff was very helpful. Overall a great place that we would stay again if in the area. Very nice breakfast in the morning and the staff was great."

"Our stay at L’antica Conceria was excellent! Martino was wonderful- he provided us with very helpful information regarding Matera and addressed any needs. He arranged transportation to the bus station on our departure day as well as providing us with an early breakfast. The facility itself is beautiful. I highly recommend Martino and his property!"

The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The breakfast was amazing, with a great variety of delicious options to choose from. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay."

"The room was very clean and spacious. Altogether the hotel was very quiet and peaceful. The garden was very pleasant and the view from the garden over the gorge was spectacular. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We stayed for 4 nights and we enjoyed it very much."

"Everything was very clean! The owners thought of everything. The rooms were very comfortable. Parking on site was great. We were offered breakfast for a small fee and it was very good. There are even espresso machines in the rooms! The owners are very lovely. I would definitely stay here again. Easy to drive into town."
