"The courtyard was so beautiful. The history of the building added to the intrigue and charm. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful 2 night stay. Safety was a high priority with a fare to buzz in guests. The breakfast was very nice and again the cavern environment told a story that added to the experience. It’s a gem in Quito. "

"We paid for a family room, instead we got a single double bed. The room was crowded. The linens were dirty. The windows didn’t shut and it was cold overnight and there was the noise of a pipe banging constantly all night long. We paid for 2 nights but it was so awful we left after one. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. This may be the first negative review I’ve ever left. I don’t want anyone else to not be warned. "

"Staff was great, but spoke almost no English. The room was cold, with no temperature control. On my second day the front desk clerk found a portable heater for me. The worst thing was that the breakfast room and restaurant was on the fourth level and was only accessible via the elevator. The staircase between level two and four was blocked off so that there was no emergency exit and no way down from the restaurant if there was a power interruption–a definite safety hazard!"
