"Unsatisfactory. No kettle in the room—I had to ask twice. Restaurant service was slow and inattentive. The steak pie had very little gravy, and the same staff member was on her phone at the service counter, so I couldn’t request more. No offer of dessert. The bedroom door emits a mini alarm when opened, which is irritating late at night. The walls are thin, with corridor doors slamming and disrupting sleep. "I originally wanted to book from the 14th to the 18th but the system wouldn’t allow me to do that so I ended up booking one night and then after a couple of false starts I managed to book the other 3 nights. The first night I had a room with a shower which was very nice (lovely in fact). However the wi fi was terrible downstairs but works a lot better upstairs as I had to change rooms because of not being able to book all 4 nights at the same time. Really good otherwise."

"We booked the hotel through Expedia for a cycle event in Wincanton. The location was perfect. Our room was huge and had an external door allowing access to the exterior. We ate in the restaurant and enjoyed the meal. Breakfast was plentiful and well cooked too. All staff were pleasant and sociable to us. Would happily stay again."

"It's a lovely old hotel BUT... There's no lift and for me, age 77, the 50 stairs up to my room, and back down, were not easy to manage. The hotel, as at April 2026, is undergoing some renovation which made things more awkward and left a lot of mess and dirt around. There was no help to get suitcases upstairs. Having said that the staff were all lovely people and breakfast was good. The car park is useful but a bit of distance from the hotel and up a hill to get out of the car park and down again...

"Too small family room( 2 adults and 2 kids), and too small bathroom and toilet. Family room should have more space . Need more cloth hangers. We stay only 1 night so its ok to bear, but if more than 2 nights,it could be terrible experience."

"The service of the staff was excellent and car parking is free. However, the plug sockets next to the bed required moving the bedside tables, so if you want to use any electrical devices whilst in bed, you had to use the sockets across the room. The toilet positioned in the room were too close to the wall and the handles to open the windows were loose and call fall out anytime. "
