This was our favorite little hotel/hostel we've stayed in Europe! Ok sized bathroom, comfortable bed, 6th floor up old wooden stairs. But the whole place has a cute, quarky interior. And by far, the cleanest place we've every stayed. The stairs and hallways were mopped every day! Rooms the cleanest, and we had a private bathroom. Great location, so many restaurants in every direction. Highly recommend!!! A+

Location is very central to transport and attractions in Madrid, and eating places nearby. The lack of air conditioning however is a big negative in a warm city like Madrid.

Clean and centrally located, everything you could hope for if you’d like a private room and bath, in a clean and secure building. The ancient stairway to the upper floors is charming for visitors to Madrid.

Shower was tiny and the room had a window that looked out into the hall way … but otherwise accommodations were decent, the bed was comfortable and there was plenty of space for me/my stuff. For being a hostel it was actually a pretty good deal for the price/location. I would book here again.

Felt like I was in a dorm or staying at a family member’s home. It was cozy and clean. It was a little loud because of the restaurants nearby but wasn’t too bad. Location is perfect!! Would stay here again.

We loved how central we were while staying at Hostal Dolcevita. The staff were super friendly, and everything was neat and clean. If you are looking for a budget stay in Madrid (think one step above hostel), you would probably enjoy staying here. Be warned though, you will be climbing quite a few stairs to get there!

Great location within the gay neighbourhood; close to all the attractions and to good restaurants. Not a particularily comfortable room though, and on the fourth (4th) floor without elevator, so it’s a walk up.

Nice budget hotel

This is a budget hotel on the fourth floor without an elevator and without airconditioning on a busy street. That aside it's nicely done up with friendly staff and I enjoyed my stay in a room facing the courtyard. Madrid had a rare cold snap in late June so I survived without AC

Location

Extremely well located, close by Gran Via and very quiet room. Congratulations to your staff, very helpful and friendly. Only drawback was it was on the third floor and no elevator- so you get your cardio workout! But overall excellent!

Good base on a budget

Decent stay for the price. If you’re looking for a budget place to stay while visiting Madrid this is a good option. Hostal is up a few flights of stairs so if you have issues with walking or climbing, may not be the place for you. Place is fairly old and the bathroom seems to be a recent addition, but it is a plus having one vs. sharing one in other sections of the hostal. No AC, but the the overhead fan worked and kept us cool in the heat. Walkable to everything. Overall, not the fanciest place but was a good stay to set base for our trip to Madrid.

Helpful staff nearly always available. Very clean and beds made for us each day. On one early morning the lock jammed shut n the only toilets/shower available, with no one inside, and it took time for us to realise that no one was inside; so the facilities were out of use for an hour. However once the reception was staffed the staff sorted out the problem very quickly. Overall this was a very good place to stay, exceptionally convenient, and I would strongly recommend it.

It is on a very noisy street with people going to clubs on the weekend. Someone was smoking weed in the hallway and the smell came into my room. Only 2 showers for lots of rooms so had to wait ages for a shower.

Hostal Dolcevita was an amazing experience. It was clean, the staff was super responsive, and we had a great view of the city. For the price, it is well worth it. I’d go again in a heartbeat.

Adequate accomodation for a short stay

We choose this hostal because it is centrally located and pretty good on the price. What we were ot expecting was having to climb 4 huge flights of stairs to our attic room which was huge but very oldy woldy. Everything worked well the wifi was ok, the bathroom was adequate and the beds comfortable and the sheets clean. The area is very central and bang smack in the Gay Centre of Madrid.
