Lawton & Lauriston Court

Lawton & Lauriston Court

8/10 Good
"The hotel was in a fabulous location, right opposite the promenade, near the War Memorial and close to shops and bars. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, from the Receptionist (Jennifer) and Leo, (Manager) who corresponded promptly to emails before arrival, to the Nepalese server at breakfast. The hotel was clean and welcoming. The reserved car parking space was perfect (we didn’t need to move our car for two days). Our breakfasts were delicious, varied and plentiful, using first class ingredients. However, I did find it annoying that our room wasn’t ready at 3pm, despite being asked beforehand what time I would be arriving. We did eventually get into the room at 3:25pm just as the housekeeper left it. This seems to be a bit strange, as check-out time was early (10:30), so maybe the hotel does not employ enough housekeeping staff? I also enquired beforehand if there was a hairdryer in the room. This was confirmed via email (that ALL rooms had hairdryers). Yet ours didn’t. However the helpful receptionist did bring us up a brand new one, still in its box, just five minutes after asking for one. Our room was located up the stairs to the left, yet the same room number could be found on a different room, up the stairs to the right. This was a bit confusing and we wondered why there could be rooms with the same numbers in one hotel?! That all said, we really enjoyed our stay and the seaview from our room was well worth paying a little bit extra for"

"We had a lovely stay with a few issues that were quickly resolved. Would say to stay in a refurbished room as the ones that haven't been are akin to a 2 star at best however the renovated parts of the hotelwere great. Overall had a great stay."

"Nice hotel in good location. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. It would be helpful for the hotel to offer breakfast when booking. Price is more expensive on the morning than if booked the night before and we thought a little expensive. Other than that a great 2 nights"

Imperial Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"We stayed at the Imperial Hotel for 4 nights, Booked a double room with a view (room 208) which was a sea view, big double windows for the view, The bathroom was huge with 2 more double windows bed was really comfy, Used the swimming pool a couple of times the whole pool was 4ft 6in deep which was a good thing if you are not a confident swimmer, My sister used the gym daily (not for me )Breakfast was brilliant plenty of choice ie cereal, cooked, basically what ever you want, waitress brings you tea or coffee, the seating at the front was overlooking the sea, The position of the Hotel was great, 5 min to the pier,2 min to the shops and the railway was only 5 min away,A few places needed a bit of TLC but overall a good hotel, would stay again."
