Beautiful setting. Pleasant welcome, comfortable room, lovely view, good food (evening meal and breakfast). The on-site menu and prices didn't always match up with the online menu and prices; that wasn't a real problem, but it's something that the hotel needs to make good.

An okay stay
Staff were lovely, welcoming and friendly. Food was excellent especially the breakfasts. However there were some heating and hot water issues. My son and his partner only had hot water on 1 night of our 2 night stay. The heating in our room did not seem to be working which was not a problem on the first night as we were warm enough but the second night was colder and there was only a summer quilt on the bed. Also the TV could not receive a signal, we tried re-tuning several times but there was an aerial/signal problem. The issues were reported to reception on check out.

A little disappointed
The hotel is a little tired and would benefit from a refurb. The problems i had with my room was the heating and the hot water or lack of it. The heating went off sometime in the night which i can live with if it isn't -5 outside. There was no hot water in the evening or in the morning. I couldn't shower and had to boil the kettle to have a warm wash in the morning. My work colleague had an electric shower in his room some he had no problem. It might just have been my room but i was left disappointed after paying £70.

Overall positive experience
I had a nice stay in a room with a four-poster bed (the option without bath.) The room was spacious and pleasant. The staff person at the front desk was friendly and helpful. I got a little chilly through the night (December stay) but warmed up under the covers with pyjamas. Sleep was a little disturbed by what sounded like the dripping of rain or water, part way through the night, but with earplugs pre-prepared I fell back asleep fine. Four-poster bed was a little creaky when moving. I didn’t mention this to staff because I didn’t want to be a bother (so that’s on me.) It was a nice stay overall.

Hotel was run by a lovely couple who worked very hard. Bar area was rustic and food was excellent, however, rooms were a bit tired and shower was very cold.

In need of a makeover
Despite the best efforts of friendly staff, this hotel is in a bad state and in need of major refurbishment. It’s also got noise issues (I was disturbed every night and morning), maintenance issues - bathroom in disrepair, uncomfortable bed - and some quite intimidating clientele. And food was average to poor mass-catering style - really disappointing.

Sad but memorable day
Attended a Celebration of life for a much loved friend. The buffet was delicious, the staff helpful and discreet all contributing to a memorable day.

What we liked was the food, the comfort and the staff. The dining room was clean and comfortable as was the bar area. Our room was clean and comfortable. We didn’t like that the carpet in public areas, except the bar area, was old, stained and needs replacing. The lift is antiquated. But there was nothing that would put us off from staying again.

Killin Hotel
We were offered a free upgrade at the time of check in from the standard double room I booked to a king size room. The view from the room was magnificent. The hotel is undergoing upgrading and part of the room has been partially upgraded but not the bathroom which was very clean but a wee bit tired. The staff at the hotel were polite and helpful at all times. We did not eat at the hotel but the dinning area looked busy and the food looked nice and plentiful. The hotel was warm and welcoming and a reasonable and I would stay here again.

Perfect location with a half mile walk along an old railway line to the spectacular Dochart Waterfall. Cosy pub downstairs in hotel. Good beer. Little nose disturbance from other guests

Not as clean as we would have liked
Our room was spacious but not as clean as we would have liked. The bedding didn’t fit the bed and as a result we had to keep pulling the sheets straight. My wife couldn’t find her charger so looked under the bed for it. It was really dirty and dusty. The windows wouldn’t close properly and the room was cold. The bed was very hard. The food was very nice. Both breakfast and evening meal. One day we had lunch as well. Only soup but it was nice. The service was good and the staff were nice and helpful. The hotel looked run down. Not sure that we would stay again.

Great location,walks by the loch, forest or old railway lines. comfortable room , good food at the hotel and surrounding areas. the lift in hotel was an experience! We used the stairs unless we had our suitcases, parking areas substantial but a little rugged. Yes I would return

Great stay
Great place for the price. I got upgraded. Room is renovated. Reception staff made me feel welcome and even phone me to ask me when they should expect me. Quiet and nice village.

Old but nice.
We had a nice stay. The location of the hotel is very good, beautiful walks around Loch Tay. The hotel is old and need some maintenance. But the staff was friendly and it was clean.

Accommodation tired and sub-standard.
Room smelled of bleach. Shower door was not working properly. The floor of our room was sticky. Had to find receptionist as desk not manned.
