Breakfast was expansive and good quality. The Japanese western style room was large and very nice. The onsen was enjoyable with a good option of temps. Be mindful of getting dining reservations even onsite. One evening despite and empty Japanese pub we could not dine. We did eat there twice the food was great.

We really enjoyed the size of the room and the comfortable bed and bedding. We also enjoyed the Japanese loungewear available for use. There was a cute gift shop. The breakfast buffet was nicely presented and had many options. Staff were pleasant. We stayed 2 nights.

We tried to go to the Izakaya on the second floor on our first night there and we're told "we full" and shooed out even though there were empty tables clearly visible. Excellent location, accessible to shops and restaurants. It’s got a lift for visitors with luggages to easily reach the hotel entrance from the lower ground. Hotel is well maintained and room is spacious. However, the outdoor onsen of the male side was closed on our day of visit. We asked if we could pay to use the private onsen, the front staff just said “no” and didn’t explain why. But other than that, our stay is wonderful. The kaiseki dinner and the breakfast buffet were both nice.

Of the 4 hotels we stayed at while in Japan, this was by far the nicest and had several restaurants. It is very close to the train station so convenient. The grounds are beautiful; there is a river outside the hotel so very nice. The hotel staff spoke better English than any of the other hotels which was nice as well. Shibata Yasuhiko was excellent and so accommodating.
