Empire Mine State Historic Park

Empire Mine State Historic Park protects the largest, deepest, and richest mines in the California Gold Rush period and operated from 1850 - 1956. It produced 5.8 Million ounces of gold that was extracted from 367 miles of passages. It also houses the exquisite "Cottage" built between 1898 and 1905 with beautiful extensive stately formal and informal gardens with fountains surrounding the home. Although the grounds, Cottage, and Mine are impressive, the picture shown stands out in the photos of the garden.
