We rang twice, when booking and on the day to advise that we would be late checking in due to attending a wedding at a nearby function. The first time I was advised that is fine as we have a 24 hour check in and second time, on day at 7pm, that due to a function being held there staff would be on site until1.30 ish if not arrangements would be made for location of key. We arrived at 1 am, hotel was locked. I rang and I was advised that I was too late and I would have to wait in my car until 2.30 am to 3 am until someone could be there. I explained that we had advised twice already we were going to be late and was retorted with that’s tough really madam. Husband and I then went back to our car to bed down for the night. However someone did then arrive about 15 mins later. We also had no lights working in bathroom, main light and shaver light and had to swap bulbs around. Therefore do not book this venue if you will be arriving late. Please note I’m not one to give bad reviews, in fact this is the first but was appalled by this situation having already paid in full. On a positive note breakfast was very good.
The hotel has no where nice near it to eat, there was no hot water, one of us was ill after consuming the breakfast. There were dead bugs in the rooms. Disgusting!!
One night stay. It’s a pleasant & peaceful spot. The room was nice enough & the food in the restaurant was pleasant but not spectacular. It’s a lovely, cosy bar/restaurant with a good atmosphere. The only problem was the number of spiders in the room, I’m afraid. Girlfriend not impressed!
The property is set in some lovely grounds and the restaurant area is quite rustic and welcoming. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. Check in was so fast it was almost abrupt, our room was small, very hot (we had the boiler in our bathroom which was noisy and made the room very stuffy), the bathroom light didn’t work, the hot tap was dripping all night and the toiletries were the absolute bare minimum. The room itself was quite dated and these factors combined made the price unreasonable. The food was good but serving hours were 8-9pm making it difficult to plan dinner and the staff seemed all quite new so didn’t know answers to basic questions and had no knowledge of drinks. Quite a disappointing stay overall.
it was lovely looking out over the Kentish fields.
Property was a bit difficult to find

staff excellent
Service and staff were excellent but room within the main house had several problems. Staff did offer to move us but as we had already had one night there we chose not to have the bother of moving
Problems included noisy boiler in the en suite, décor in en suit poor and not the cleanest around skirting boards, hot tap extremely hard to turn off and cold tap extremely hard to turn on
Check in was ok as lady in front desk was nice. Was not able to use the bar though as there was a wedding. The disappointment was breakfast. Absolutely unpleasant experience altogether. All tables had been used and we had to clean our own table and get cutlery. All pastries had run out and the one guy serving was way overworked and uninterested. The other guests were laughing about the ‘self service’. All could have been redeemed when I spoke to the manager at check out but his passive aggressive responses were unwelcome and unpleasant. He challenged me and I suggested he ask all guests about their breakfast experience upon checkout. My guess would be he didn’t. Such a shame as it’s a beautiful little place and could have been a lovely spot to return to.

It’s trying it’s best but could do better
Lovely staff, they are trying to have things at a high standard but my room was a little tired and worn out, despite turning both knobs off on the radiator the radiator was still on making the room very hot, the shower left a lot to be desired to not very powerful and a pain to get temperature correct.
Food was good stake tasted like to much lighter fluid was used on the charcoal grill to light it and that got into the food.
Breakfast was good but again let down by the slow pace of the kitchen nearly 40mins from sitting down to eating in a sitting of less than 10 people.
On arrival we immediately felt very welcome, our rooms were in a beautiful courtyard. The restaurant and bar were lovely sitting in front of a very welcoming log fire. The food and service was outstanding we will definitely be going back!

Nice friendly place for a business stop over
Nice friendly place for a business stop over, although it’d be great if you needed to be in Dover early as a family to get to France.
The room I had this time was a little tired it was still clean and comfortable, the evening meal and Breakfast were both excellent.
Really friendly staff nothing was too much trouble, there was a minor issue with the room when I checked in but that was quickly fixed with no fuss at all.
Evening meal and breakfast was excellent too.
We were in Walmer visiting friends and needed a reasonably priced place to stay! and for room only we had a good deal. Added breakfast there for just £8 per head when we checked in. It was down a few narrow country lanes but the hotel itself was just what we were hoping for. Lovely breakfast. Nice friendly staff, plenty of parking, clean, comfortable and warm. It was only a one night stay and we didn't have an evening meal or anything but all in all we were happy with our choice.

Sadly somewhat disappointing
My first impression when arriving in the car park were good. Plenty of easy parking and nice looking grounds. Unfortunately, however, it went a bit downhill from there. No member of staff at reception or the bar area an for only a sign pointing guests to head out the back to the marquee where a private wedding was in full flow - I'm sure they were delighted with random guests wandering in looking for staff to get checked in.
Service was very slow and the food was OK. Essentially "OK" was the final summary. It has the potential to be really nice but needs considerably better management & organisation. I don't like being too harsh but sadly left disappointed.
We booked this hotel as it was close to our friends home.on arrival there was one guy who was doing everything. We felt extremely sorry for him as he was trying his best.
Door to room was broken, leaky tap.
This is purely a wedding venue hotel where they do not have time for any other guests.
Breakfast was ok but once again, the same member of staff trying to feed 60 people. Obviously impossible.
Lovely rural get away, peaceful. The highlights are the excellent food and attentative friendly staff. The rooms are converted stables, clean and with some lovely views.
Had nice clean family room for 5, quiet place to stay and close to Dover for ferry. Good parking outside the accommodation. Nice breakfast. Would stay again.
Lovely place to stay - very clean, beautiful gardens. Room not too hot despite the really hot weather! The only suggestion I would make is just add a little bit more pressure to your water system so the showers are sufficiently powerful!
The whole stay started badly. No one at the reception when we arrived, we were finally checked in by someone from behind the bar after they had finished having a chat with one of the customers. The room which I understand was a converted stable smelled just like a stable stale and musty. I would say it hadn’t been decorated for years with the paint peeling off the walls and doors. The light in the bathroom didn’t work and there was a bulb missing in the bedroom light. Breakfast was meagre with a limited cereal choice and you had to ask if you wanted toast. There was one young member of staff who was waiting at the tables, who burst into tears when it became clear they could not handle the volume of guests coming in for breakfast.
At this point we decided to leave without our breakfast and without being able to check out properly as once again no one on reception. Steer clear of the Blazing Donkey is my advice.
