"Room was warm and stuffy so I had to open the windows and use the fan.
Clean hotel with an excellent breakfast. Many options to choose from and the staff was lovely."
"The hotel is in such a beautiful location with sweeping grounds running right down to Grasmere lake plenty of parking and close to buses running into Keswick, Ambleside and Bowness
My only complaint was that the cooked breakfast on our first morning was a little cold but fine the next day. The dinner menu is superb!"
"The Langley Castle hotel was a wonderful experience. The staff could not be more accommodating, friendly and helpful. It's been a long time since we experienced such great service and felt so welcomed! We were offered help with our bags, which given the narrow and winding stairs, would be a good option for anyone with a heavy or large suitcase. I believe there were over 20 winding stairs (and not always a hand rail), so if one has any climbing difficulties, be aware of this. Our suite was lovely, as pictured and the A/C was fabulous, especially in a heatwave. The bed was extremely comfortable too. It was nice to have tea, coffee, a carafe of water and some nibbles at the ready. The TV was fiddley and the picture wasn't great, but not that big a deal for us. The breakfast was fine and there was a nice selection of options. However, it was so slow that our coffees went cold waiting - but staff immediately brought fresh when this was noted to them. The bartender was also friendly and helpful. We had a casual meal and that was the only thing I would not have again. My burger whilst hot, was tremendously overcooked, dry and tasteless - almost as if it had been reheated by microwave. I didn't finish it. My partner's fish, although plentiful was greasy. The apple crumble was dry and had the smallest scoop of ice cream I've ever seen in my life. We paid 70 pounds for one of the worst meals we've had. Stay for the experience, but probably eat somewhere else!"
"We had the most amazing stay at the Castle Inn to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday. The spa facilities were spacious and clean and we felt so relaxed there.
The staff were friendly and super helpful - I brought a small shop bought birthday cake with me and the chef turned it into a work of art which was amazing and much appreciated by my daughter.
We booked a classic double but were given a lovely big room with views towards the hills, space for comfy chairs and a very nice bathroom with a bath!
The breakfast was really well done and we were looked after so well in the restaurant. If I was being picky, I would say the dinner menu wasn't that extensive so we only ate there one evening... but what we did have was cooked beautifully and was tasty.
All together though, it was a brilliant stay and I would love to come back again soon."
"The Keswick Country House Hotel is a gem, quietly tucked away with a short walk from the town centre, lovely walks, and beautiful grounds.
The hotel was once connected by a railway, which is now part of the C2C bicycle trail, and lovely level walk, through breath taking scenery.
The breakfast is great with a great choice of food, well cooked and presented, including Gluten Free options. We had no issues. Maybe a bit more thought about layout, to help avoid cross contamination (eg separation of cereals from non gluten items) and maybe the sausages could be GF?
I have found GF sausages are very good, as 100% meat. just a thought. Although I am not a Coeliac myself, my daughter is. I was impressed with some of the the attention to detail, but a bit more choice and slight adjustment with ingredients, positioning and location of certain foods, would be a wow factor, for anyone struggling with an allergy. thank you.
The rooms were well equipped, tidy and cleaned regularly. This is an interesting hotel with unique railway heritage. Highly recommended 9/10.
The staff were exceptional, very friendly and helpful, I will look forward to our next visit and definitely enjoy this hotel again. Thank you"
