Self contained, had toaster, kettle, microwave and refrigerator. Slight draw back is the vacuum sanitary system that makes noise when you use the toilet, sink or shower.

Nice room, recently modernised.

Room clean and reasonable size. En suite shower room very clean and modern though somewhat small. Bar was busy on arrival but noise did not filter upstairs to room. Disappointed to find that breakfast was extra and consisted of a choice of up to five boxed/packaged items: missed this when considering booking.

Not a B & B

They have really weird hours, but most importantly, they are advertised as a B & B but have NO FOOD. Even on Hotels.com it lists breakfast. Even in the room, on the info packet, it talks about breakfast being served. But no. The whole vibe was weird there. I expected a friendly pub atmosphere, but the patrons were kinda all sitting there in silence and it was strange. But our room was spacious and cute.

Comfortable and charming hotel

This is such a lovely hotel! The room was beautiful, the bed was lovely and soft, and the bathroom was clean with a bath and shower. The room was above a pub which was handy for a drink, but we had no problems with noise whatsoever. There is a small shop right next door for essentials. The location is rural so it was nice and quiet, even the music from the pub was turned down by 10pm. Lots of lovely walks nearby and some really interesting history on the doorstep! Lumphanan is a really quaint and pretty town, with nice views and walks, everyone we spoke to was very friendly, we were given a leaflet with info about local walks and history which was a very nice touch. Aberdeen and stonehaven are about 45 min drive away, so was handy for a day out. Check in and check out were nice and easy, and the staff were so helpful with organising taxi numbers and settling us in. We deffintely plan on staying here again!

I have booked bed& breakfast on expedia web. Paid money for it to find out is no brekfast that evening,only because needed to call maintenence guy....as tv broken down. Got an email few days pripor my arrival that bar/ pub is close from monday to Thursday from day i am coming and i need to use codes to get in as is no staff..... Better and better... Loud( every little noise from room above not allowing to sleep)Cold, mould in the corner, hand towel hanger almost off the wall and wardrobe...without a rail and hangers...table pool to be in use after money putted in to only take money ...

Hotel was comfortable and clean. Lady who checked us in was very helpful. However, we were looking for a hotel in Banchory, and Macbeth Arms was 10 miles away. Also, no cooked breakfast was included. Before I booked, the website said I could cancel up to the day before; after I paid, it said the payment was non-refundable. Otherwise, we enjoyed the stay, it was quiet and we had two good nights sleep.ui

The property was spotlessly clean, the staff very helpful. Nice small cosy room. Nice atmosphere in the bar. No noise when we went to our room. Did not have breakfast.
