I like that the property was close to the lagoon, if you want to go in the water you need to pay a resort to enter. I liked that is was close to the center of town which you had to go to for meals. The town is very small. I liked that it was quite. There is street parking only. The young people running the place are very nice. There is no pool. I didnt like that the front doors were locked with a chain and we could not leave until someone arrived in the morning.

A stench of mould and mildew

Unfortunately our room smelled very very strongly of mould and mildew. We had to go and buy air freshner it was that bad. When we moved to our next hotel we could still smell it in all our clothing and luggage. There is no ventilation at all from the bathroom - It is completely internal with no extractor. Bed was comfy and location is good.

Location was excellent. It's right on the edge of the town center so it's very walkable around there. The room was very clean.. The rooms and hotel are very basic. Only one old couch in the lobby. The room had one little table. The is a shared refrigerator is on the roof of the hotel.. The staff is great, very warm and welcoming

The Paradis

Bacalar is just a big wow. The service at the Hotel was very friendly and helpfull. The hotel looks like it was renovated but it's missing a little fridge in the room, place to relax (no pool, no relaxing area with chairs and table) so it's impossible to relax at the hotel. Hotel was closed to almost everything.

Rough and ready, basic charm. Clean, with kind bed, bathrooms a bit rough. But we only needed a bed for 2 nights to enjoy the beautiful Bakalar! The service was absolutely 💯 Price reflexes the expectation so as llong as your low maintenance this property will suite you 😉 Walking dista ce to the little town and all the activity providers. You must do a pontoon tour of the Seven Colours

Excellent value and location

For the price (55 usd in 2024) this was excellent value. Excellent location and very clean. The sheets appeared stained with some kind of oil- but they were clean. I complained thinking they were dirty, and staff went above and beyond. I was invited to look at the available rooms and pick a new room. Floors and bathroom were all impeccably clean. I was just being demanding. I speak Spanish so had no problem with the kind staff but I think some do not speak English. Rooftop is not finished yet but when it is, they will have an amazing view of the lake.

Lo mejor de esta propiedad es su ubicación. Es increíble. El concepto del hotel es interesante pero la limpieza no es tan buena. Muchos se escudan por el hecho de que la tarifa es baja pero en la industria de la hotelería la limpieza debería ser el mejor servicio no importa que tarifa y que categoría tenga un hotel. Los muebles del baño se ven muy envejecidos y dañados, escaleras, areas públicas con mucho polvo debido al estilo del piso se nota mucho. Y la habitación fué trapeado con algo sucio que daba mal olor. No obstante, el servicio de los chicos de recepción siempre fué destacado y muy atentos a todo. Amo Bacalar, pero no hay obra pública, las calles sucias y con mucha basura, incluso fuera de este hotel. Los camiones que construyen el tren maya no son pretexto, cada quien debería ser responsable de barrera afuerita de su casa y sus negocios.

A la habitación le hace falta un tocador, espejo, bote de basura, la limpieza del baño es mala, me entregaron la habitación con el baño con cabellos y hongos en las esquinas. El segundo día de estancia no realizaron la limpieza y cuando les dije la chica de la recepción se molesto, la subieron a hacer solo por encima, el baño lo dejaron sucio. Necesitan mejoras esos aspectos del hotel.
