"I stayed at the Mercure Ponta Delgada Azores for 3 nights total. My first night was prior to meeting a one week active hiking biking and kayaking trip on the the island. My last 2 nights were after the group trip and I felt a sense of relief and "coming home" when I arrived for the second time. This hotel is a true gem. It is new, the rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. I had a balcony which is always a nice treat. The front desk staff is lovely and very helpful. Beatriz, Maria, and Wilson were always there for a restaurant recommendation, help with logistics on planning a day, or to arrange for a taxi if needed. The buffet breakfast was included and had local cheeses and fruits as well as eggs and many options for all dietary needs. I am gluten free and never left breakfast hungry. Special thank you to Rafael who remembered my gluten free needs and always made sure I had what I needed!
The pool area is beautiful. The location of this hotel was perfect. Walking distance to all great restaurants and the sights. There is a grocery store and a pharmacy 2 blocks away. Abracadabra Gelato is a short walk as well. As a single female traveler I felt safe walking alone even later at night. Stay here if you can. You will be glad you did!

"excellent all around. the cleanliness, the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff, the food was good. the espresso martinis with baileys at the bar with live music every night hit the spot after long days of adventure. the concierge sever, baggage handlers and valet service as great and convenient to maximize your time on the island. this was a beautiful hotel and amazing island. this is a trip worth doing again."
"Highly recommend this hotel. This hotel is well situated, about a 2 minute walk to center of town. Parking outside is metered from 8pm-7am, or hotel offers parking 10€ a day. Lot directly across the street is 6€ a day, or if you are ok to walk about 2 blocks- free parking on the street (ask hotel which streets, they will tell you)
Clara, Tomas, Luis and Tugo really went above and beyond and help my cousin and I during our stay . Any time we needed assistance, they were happy to help us. We really appreciated the help with the room (Carla) help with the parking and restaurant suggestions (Tomas) lending an umbrella (Luis) help with drinks and poolside (Tugo) .
Room was well appointed, as is normal for Europe, beds a slight bit stiff. Hair dryer great, shower water pressure great and warm. Had a refrigerator and safe. Windows looking out to the water (room 414)
Floors set up interestingly- had to go up a flight of stairs to get to elevators - 4th on 2 different levels, split levels. Breakfast was excellent and well appointed. Plenty of food and options. They were great at refilling food. Spa was relaxing and very pretty.
Suggestions for restaurants and sights:Recommend Cais da Sardinha , Bom Pesquiero for dinner, Tonys for traditional Cozidho (2pm 4pm seatings) go to Poca da Dona Beija for hot springs, dont waste your time at Terra Nosta. Overcrowding and lockers are nightmare. Worth seeing Vista do Rei, Boca do Inferno. Scuba, not the greatest visibility and water is cold."
"The rooms are very clean as is the rest of the hotel. The view from our window was amazing. The hot wet l has a very nice breakfast and breakfast area. The location is perfect."
"Raquel and the team are incredible! They corrected issues and errors expeditiously. The team took the time to acknowledge my friend and I celebrating our milestone birthday with a surprise.
I literally called the front desk at any hour for help, thanks Jon, even arranging taxi rides when uber and bolt wouldn’t pick me up. It’s in the center of town.
The only thing to know, is it’s located on a street that closes so taxi may not pick you up right in front. But it’s a very short walk to the main street.
I love this place and plan to visit over and over again."
