Royal Beacon Hotel

"The hotel is ideally located in a quiet street and the parking was helpful. The view from the windows was a bonus, I could actually hear the waves. The room size was a pleasant surprise. Plenty of wardrobe & cupboard space, bright and airy and a fan provided which was useful. Bed was comfortable and staff in reception were really kind & helpful. One small slightly annoying factor was an air-lock or similar in upper room’s water system which did make a noise. Notwithstanding this I would definitely stay again."

"Our ground floor room was very clean and tidy, though the noise from the water supply to the toilet and the 'flushing' from the rooms above were so load it even woke me up on occasions. also we had an interconnecting room and we could hear quite clearly the guests in the adjacent room."

"Hotel has been refurbished downstairs in the main areas to a high standard, the patio area also. However the bedrooms are in need of some updating. Shower room had nowhere to put any cleaning stuff! The shower didn't work properly. Bed was really comfy. Great breakfasts maybe a bit expensive. This is constructive criticism, the place is great and I'd stay there again."

"We initially walked straight past reception as it wasn't immediately obvious, the receptionist was hidden behind the very high desk and certainly wasn't the most helpful - I don't think she wanted to be there! The room was ok but the lack of light was an issue when trying to read in bed and it was very hot and stuffy (obviously not helped by this weather, but it took me a couple of days to be able to open the window.) The bathroom was lovely and clean with toiletries provided and plenty of towels. All in all it was an OK stay, but I wouldn't rush back."

"The staff in this hotel without exception were all very very personable and proud to be part of their team. Never quite encountered such a genuine group. Don’t forget to give the succulents a little water in the bar restaurant though!"
