Pocket Guide: 3 Stars Hotels in Ko Lanta
There is a good choice of three-star accommodation in Ko Lanta so visitors to the island have a fantastic array of accommodation to choose from. Visitors who want to be on or close to the beach have plenty of options that caterfor everyone, be it singles, couples or families. Some of the bigger three-star resorts have swimming pools. Other amenities these hotels and resorts offer their guests are free Wi-fi, breakfast and bottled water along with satellite TV, mini-bars plus, in some cases, spa and massage facilities.
Some three-star resorts offer adventure and water-based activities to their guests as well as excursions: island hopping, visits to Chao-ley sea gypsy village, Ko Lanta’s exclusive waterfall at Ao Klong Jark, hot springs and the emerald pool located in the middle of a forest along with numerous caves.
Accommodation in this category can be found on most of the beaches on the west coast of the island, with most resorts offering detached bungalows. Some of these establishments are small independent operations with around ten bungalows, and others are larger with up to fifty bungalows. Most of the three-star hotels and resorts have their own beachfront restaurants.
Ban Saladan has some of the best restaurants on the island. Around twenty waterfront eateries are here; these atmospheric places are made of wood, sit on stilts over the water and specialise in fresh seafood and Thai cuisine at reasonable prices. All of the main beaches: Klong Dao, Long Beach, Klong Khong and Klong Nin have restaurants that offer seafood, Thai and international food and even pizza.
The Ko Lanta high season is traditionally November to April. December and January are extremely busy and a booking should be made well in advance. From May to August the weather is usually still good but the island becomes very quiet, perfect for tourists seeking peace and quiet but not so great for those wanting some nightlife.
