So much more than expected. Spent hours exploring the old town. If you are not a hill climber, there is a tram to take you to top of hill. Wish I had planned more time to explore more. Very vibrant city. Things were rocking with the younger crowd.

Take the tram ride to Zagreb Center - Trg Bana Jelacica (Trgac) and walk the Kaptol & Gric, return by the Gric Tunnel, enjoy food and drinks, plenty of restaurants & cafeterias. My city of birth, no need to say anything else - love you, Zagreb!

If you go to the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum early in the morning you might be able to get a free ride around the city in their 100 year old tram... enquire if it is running. We went at 9am and the tram ride was at 9.30.

Looks can be deceiving. The buildings and their first impression make you feel unsafe and as though you are entering a third world country. But give it a chance, the buildings don't reflect the people or the safety we experienced.

An underrated city, as Rick Steves has noted. Besides being a convenient airport hub, it's actually got a fascinating and lively historic district.
"We couldn’t fault our stay at Zonar Zagreb, we were able to use the pool after our early flight before our room was ready and the staff were so helpful taking our bags for the day. The room itself was very clean and fresh, and super modern. The only downside is it is slightly far out of town, however taxis into town were only around €3/4 so not too big off an issue."
