"Curry (now Half Dome) village is an unpretentious base for walking in Yosemite Valley. It is right on the spot for early starts, and the simple cabins (I was in a tent cabin) avoid the need for camping equipment. Facilities on site are well run and just what is needed. The communal dining hall is very good, reasonably priced, and has a nice atmosphere in the evening. The pool has stunning views straight up to Glacier Point, and with the adjacent shower block is very welcome at the end of a hot...

An easy quarter-mile hike from the parking lot rises 100 feet in elevation before offering a breathtaking and unobscured view of the valley below.
