The Stag at Stow

The Stag at Stow

10/10 Excellent
"We loved our stay at The Stag, and the staff really looked after us. We arrived a little early so parked and had lunch in the bar before going up to our rooms. The food was amazing and the setting was typical of an old pub - wonky walls, doors and an intimate, cosy atmosphere. It was tastefully decorated throughout too, and right in the square pretty much opposite the gate leading to St Edward's church. Our room was lovely - good sized bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Access to fresh chilled drinking water and milk for tea/coffee was via a communal fridge on the ground floor, we liked this as it reduced plastic waste from the usual UHT milk sachets/cups. Lavazza coffee pods with machine was provided as well as a kettle for tea. The room also had a gorgeous view of the hills and countryside past the village, and the garden below. The only niggle we had was that there was a slight smell coming from the drains at times in the bathroom, but we put this down to old plumbing inside a very old building. It didn't really impact our stay at all however, and we would come back again."

The Grosvenor Hotel

8/10 Good
"This hotel was booked at the last minute and what a good gind it was. Parking on site. Friendly staff to welcome you at reception. Great breakfast. Easy walk into the town center. The room was clean and tidy, with sufficient tea and coffee. I have only given it 4 out of 5 rather than 5 for the following reasons. No bedside/reading lights, and also no ability to turn the main lights out from your bed. It may have been just our room, but there shower was rather lacking a bit of pressure. Despite all of this, if I was visiting Stratford-upon-Avon again I would consider booking this hotel again"
