Generously sized room ( No 3) which was well appointed ; very comfortable bed and quality linen. Room overlooks the pub courtyard but no noise problem in November.

Such a great place to stay for a couple of days exploring the local area.
The food is great, the breakfast was the best part for me. I was very pleased to see you get to order from a menu at breakfast and everything felt like great quality.
Staff were really friendly too.
I received a lovely welcome despite my late arrival The room was lovely and clean and quiet. As a woman travelling on my own I felt very safe and well looked after. Breakfast was really lovely. I hope to return and hopefully have tome for dinner next time!
Simply fantastic. Be that the location, food, drinks and the whole aesthetic of the pub & rooms. The star of the show was Manager Joe, I’ve never felt so welcome or accommodated at any property before. I would stay again in a heartbeat.
Everything is very well thought out. There is bags of atmosphere and every one of the staff are truly excellent.
We had a delicious dinner in front of the fire and breakfast was top notch. Can't recommend highly enough.
Absolutely classic, traditional English pub in a quiet village in the picturesque Chalke Valley. The rooms are compact but really comfortable with a great bed and a tray with fresh milk, shortbread and coffee. The restaurant is great and the people working there are friendly and full of useful local knowledge. Highly recommended! 🌟😁😁😁😁
Overall my stay with you was very satisfactory except for the cooked breakfast. Both mornings the cooked breakfasts were very poor .
My bedroom with en-suite was excellent .
Your staff were excellent especially Maddy .
Lovely country village pub with exceptionally welcoming staff. Even on one of the hottest days of the year and in an upstairs room. The windows had been left open and a large fan was on to ensure a good nights sleep. Room was immaculate and very large. An excellent nights stay whilst travelling for business. Food was fantastic and even had a draught gluten free lager available for me as well as bottles. Thoroughly recommend and would definitely use again.
Our stay at The Queen’s Head was absolutely fantastic. The rooms are spacious, much bigger than the photos suggest, with super-comfy beds. They’re set quietly at the back, away from pub noise, so you can enjoy a peaceful rest indoors or outside. The pub itself has a cosy, authentic old British vibe.
The real highlight is the food — beyond excellent. Every dish bursts with flavour and care. As Indians, we were amazed by how perfectly balanced and delicious the British food was. Portions are generous and every meal exceeded expectations.
Joe, the manager, is exceptional — generous, kind, and attentive. His hospitality and that of the staff made us feel so welcome. My mom loved the brownies, and Joe even packed extras for her to take home. He also brought out a Carolina Reaper chilli sauce when we asked for more spice — such thoughtful service.
The outdoor seating among grapevines is peaceful and almost spiritual. The music adds to the warm, relaxed vibe. Everything — rooms, food, service, and ambience — feels well thought-out and offers incredible value.
Smoked salmon with poached eggs for breakfast, and even Negroni shots included in the breakfast menu — can you imagine! Exceptional place with heart, soul, and outstanding food. Highly recommended.
Faultless. We stayed overnight on 27th Dec 2023 in a beautifully appointed room with huge, comfortable beds and toasty duvets. Gleaming bathroom and plenty of pillows and towels.
The welcome was warm and genuine. We felt like nothing was too much trouble and very much made to feel at home.
Terrific Rude Giant ale on tap. I was lucky enough to have the festive brew which was a perfect pint of best bitter.
The breakfast was perfect and again, we were given a cheery welcome and attended to expertly.
Nice, low level music in the morning and a gentle bustle of activity behind the bar.
Special mention to Will from Stockport who undoubtedly has a gift for hospitality. A team effort, of course, but he was front of house during our stay and did a sterling job.
It is a lovely place to stay, plenty of beautiful places to walk. The staff were very friendly and the room has high quality fixtures and fittings. Little touches like a glass bottle of water, lovely fresh milk for tea/coffee in the room, coffee bags and home made biscuits were much appreciated as were the good quality toiletries. Great choices for breakfast served to you, not a buffet.
We were in the area for a friend’s birthday and booked to stay here and my goodness was it lovely. Everything from the people, to the food, to the room etc was just fab and although we don’t have much reason to, we would absolutely love to come back to stay as it was just so nice. 10/10 recommend
