Melbourne Central Business District

Melbourne's Central Business District blends historic architecture with modern skyscrapers in a walkable grid pattern filled with hidden laneways. Bustling streets hum with tram bells while colourful street art adorns alleyways behind Victorian-era facades. Discover world-class dining alongside museums, theatres, and shopping destinations. Navigate easily between attractions on the free City Circle trams or explore on foot. Wander through Queen Victoria Market for local treasures or enjoy the arts scene at Federation Square. The Yarra River provides a peaceful backdrop with waterfront dining options just steps from the urban excitement.

Southbank

Southbank stretches along Melbourne's Yarra River with wide pedestrian promenades offering stunning city views. Crown Casino anchors this entertainment hub with gaming floors and upscale restaurants. The Arts Centre Melbourne's iconic spire rises above world-class performance venues and riverside sculpture displays. High-rise luxury hotels and apartments dominate the skyline with gleaming glass facades. Visitors enjoy waterfront dining at every price point along the bustling riverbanks. The Melbourne Convention Centre and Melbourne Skydeck provide additional attractions in this vibrant district that never sleeps.

Carlton

Carlton's historic Italian precinct pulses with authentic Mediterranean energy. Lygon Street, Melbourne's "Little Italy," draws food lovers with espresso-scented cafes and family-run trattorias. Victorian terraces with ornate ironwork line tree-canopied streets near the University of Melbourne. The UNESCO-listed Royal Exhibition Building stands majestically in Carlton Gardens' formal landscapes. Students and visitors browse independent bookshops and speciality Italian delis throughout the area. The Melbourne Museum's modern glass architecture creates a striking contrast with the area's rich historical character.

St Kilda

St Kilda captures Melbourne's playful spirit with its seaside charm and artistic soul. Luna Park's vintage rides light up the shoreline while the historic pier welcomes visitors to spot little penguins at dusk. Acland Street tempts with cake shop windows and eclectic boutiques. Fitzroy Street pulses with energy from dawn till late. The palm-lined esplanade buzzes with Sunday markets where local artists showcase their crafts. Catch live music at iconic venues or simply soak up sunshine on the wide sandy beach. Trams connect this bohemian area to Melbourne's centre in just twenty minutes.

Richmond

Richmond's vibrant Vietnamese district along Victoria Street offers authentic Asian dining and grocery shopping. This trendy Melbourne area balances industrial-chic charm with converted warehouses and boutique shopping on Bridge Road. Sports fans appreciate the proximity to Melbourne Cricket Ground and AAMI Park. The area's walkable streets connect craft breweries, vintage stores, and late-night eateries. Three metro stations provide excellent connectivity to central Melbourne. Riverside paths along the Yarra offer scenic walking routes away from the neighborhood's energetic shopping and dining scenes.

Oaks Melbourne on Market Hotel

Oaks Melbourne on Market Hotel

8/10 Good
"Walkable and convenient location, but if you need them, trams to and from the CBD and train stations are one minute walk away. Pool, sauna, spa and gym excellent. Room spacious and comfortable, with kitchenette very useful for longer stays. My issue was with the outdoor terrace, which is the front-page photo on the website. Armed with a drink and a book, I really wanted to sit in the sunshine for an hour but was told the terrace was not available to hotel guests, and was only used for conference/meeting delegates. If you are going to use the photo to entice guests to stay, surely they must be permitted to use it. To say it is locked and unavailable was extremely disappointing and bad form. The Oaks brand is better than this. Either delete the outdoor terrace photo, or label it (e.g. for conference use) or allow guests to use it. Perhaps I can return for another stay and find this has been rectified."

10/10 Excellent
"It’s hard to choose my favourite part of our stay at The Langham Melbourne because everything was wonderful! From the moment we booked and contacted the hotel to arrange a few special things for our daughter, right through to check out, we were so happy with the service. Every staff member was kind, welcoming, and attentive to all of us, especially our little girl. She felt like she was staying in a princess castle. Everyone went out of their way to make our stay special, and we felt very well looked after the whole time. The hotel itself is beautiful, and I absolutely loved the signature scent. I wish I could have that scent in my own house. Sadly, we did not have time to go back to the hotel store to buy some. We booked a room with a river view, and it was such a treat waking up and going to bed with that beautiful view. We also loved the pool and hot tub and went every night. Breakfast was wonderful, with lots of fresh fruit, delicious pastries, and even a chocolate fountain. The pistachio croissant was SO good! The staff made sure we had everything we needed, and the breakfast area had a lovely view too. We were genuinely sad to leave when it was time to check out. Thank you!!"
