Overall, our stay at Riva was pleasant, the beach was very convenient and clean, the staff were courteous, helpful and the resort is as green and lush as you could imagine. The spa was great, and the gym facility was readily accessible and clean. The resort and restaurants themselves are great, but have some strange policies- the resort refuses to give you a second room key which makes the stay quite inconvenient. The rooms have a button for DND, which disables when you take the room key out from the slot to turn on power.

The location of the hotel is great , besides that the worst thing in my permanence is been the various music festival running at the hotel, with very loud music until late in the night. You could barely sleep and the party would start very early in the afternoon, with sound check at 6 in the morning. The hotel in itself is overpriced , the rooms are old and badly preserved , everything looks like is falling apart, and construction with loud noises are running everywhere.

Warning Brits Beware
Very disappointing. This resort seems to be set up for locals and Russians. On 2 occasions we could not get a sun bed by the pool. One time we went to the beach bar. All the beds were empty but we were told every bed was reserved and there was no place for us. On 3 separate occasions we heard the beach bar manage complain to other guests about people who used the beds but didn't spend money. Be warned this is not the romantic idealic resort it looks

Good location near a clean beach
Stay was good very good beach well maintained resort and very clean water nearby restaurants are very nice the resort is well maintained and staff is great only very poor wifi signal and very very slow internet! Wifi is not great at all

Very good property and a relaxing experience

Hotel set in lovely grounds close to beach
Had very large room with fantastic view of sea. Hotel grounds are excellent. Standard of room good but could do with some work to repair the leak from the bathroom which is causing damage to wall in bedroom. If going at xmas be warned about gala dinner cost which we were not pre advised about. Seemed strange that hotel guests had to pay 3500r each while outsiders got the dinner for 1500r!!

Cute place
It was a nice stay for a few nights. There's nothing really much to do around manderem beach. But there's a few shacks. Social houze was really fun, the staff there was great, very friendly and inviting, as well as the food is amazing! Esp the chicken momo's. There's also a place called coco loco which was fun for dancing.

The location of this hotel is perfect for the beach. Mandrem beach shack serves some of the best food in goa. Breakfast in the hotel is very basic but ok. The pool that has recently been put in was undergoing maintenance work so was only able to use it for 2 days out of our 5 day stay. There is also other ongoing building works so there is some noise disturbance all day. However, easy to escape by going over the bridge to the beach.

Great location of the hotel close to the Sea
We will recommend this hotel to all visitors. The only downside is their taxi service, which is substantial over-priced.

please maintain this wonderful place.
excellent location, wonderful ambiance,well planned and constructed good service, the only problem with the place was the rooms were not maintained well. as in the ac the door knobs switches were all faulty. other than that it was peace and serinity all over the place.

Overrated!
I stayed for a week at the place and I've many to mention ! First, the room is totally unlike the pictures in their site or Expedia's. It's small, smelly, there was a leak on the top of the shower ruining the roof but nobody cared, I had to mention five times that a due date message was masking the tv half of the time. TV was fixed only after I yelled about ( was deactivated from day before .... ) Second the breakfast is the worst ever !!! No fresh fruit juice, fruit salad is made with bad fruits, no pancakes or croissant but only 3 kind of omelettes !!! A nightmare ! Dinner was acceptable but poor choice and not possible to pay it " on the room " bill. Third the staff is really nice but totally inaccurate. The lack of skills is a real problem. Without coming into details of my personn life, I can tell you that it's really obvious at all al level and jobs ! The place could be a really nice stay, location is really a spot and with a little refreshment of buildings and attention to details it could be something. But as it is it's just too expensive for a poor service and room. Do not fit expectations for a place like it wants to be !

Beautiful resort, will definitely be back soon !!
We were a group of 5. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the resort. The disappointing factors were that the bed linens were not clean and were stained, wifi was also an issue to worry about. However, we just did not want to leave the resort and go sightseeing or partying out. The beach opposite to the resort is heavenly. The in house DJ was good. Very courteous staff including the security man and of course the well trained dogs. Food is good too. Overall stay was superb..Completely rejuvenated !! I strongly recommend this resort for a group of corporates looking for some place to chill and relax. Families will love this place too. Riva Beach resort we will definitely be back soon !!! :) Regards, Pleased visitor

Very good and relaxing place
Great hotel, great location, nice place and staff. Tragically our door didn't lock from the inside so when it came to locking the door at night, I had to lock it from the outside and walk all the way around the apartment block and walk through the back door to have our door locked at night. Other than that, really enjoyed our stay here

Appealing place but slightly tired in places
Spent 4 nights here in January 2015. Had a good stay. Great location close to the beach. Some really stylish touches but also areas that look a bit tired. Largely very friendly and helpful staff. Nice food. Area itself was very quiet which was fantastic for relaxing but not so great in the evenings.

Nice hotel, but with problems
The hotel tries to have a high standard. And the room was fine. A small thing is that the savebox, fridge and TV didn't worked, and the hairdryer gave us a electrical chock! That can be fixed. More of an irritation was that they were building extra rooms and swimmingpool for the hotel, and had people working with loud cutting machines 14 hours every day. That took the fun out of being there, and hence we spent only nights there. Guess they will have that finished soon or later. But for us this was just not good enough :-(.

Hotel is good. Beach is very close, at walk able distance. The only problem we faced was that washrooms don't have any ventilation.

Great location nice beach, nice property
This place is very far of Airport it took 2 hrs to reach mandrem and taxi charge 1800 nice location, nice beach one of the finest and clean beach nice property but very far and due to off season rainy season we found all the cottages packed up to save from water and we got room instead of cottage ,electricity problem was there generator was there but due to low occupancy they were little reluctant.

great hotel!! Bang on the beach
We went for a 3 night stay at Riva Resort in the month of July. Off season/monsoons is a good time for couples/honeymooners or people looking for peace and quiet away from the hustle bustle of the city. The resort has a fabulous location and has a lot to offer. Being close to Arambole beach, gives access to great choice of restaurants at walkable distance. The staff gave the excuse of the monsoons for the poor maintenance, even the linen in the rooms were not so great when we first went in. We requested for a change, which the staff was very nice about and immediately provided good service. Food was great though a very limited menu, breakfast was slightly disappointing. Wi-fi in the restaurant was good. The beach was a great serene stretch of lovely clean sand, and a lifeguard kept out a watchful eye on us, which was reassuring. We missed our train back, but The Resort was very helpful in arranging a cab for us and assisting us with information. Overall stay was very relaxing!!

Loved the Stay!!
Booked Online via Expedia. Confirmed by booking through phone and requested a sea facing room. But was informed that the one I booked was not sea facing, hence they would upgrade me when I arrived (depending on availability, fair enough!!). We were given a sea facing room when we arrived :) The room itself was spacious and clean. The manager was very courteous and accommodating. Food was great.

If you're looking for peace & quiet; EXCELLENT
When I booked this hotel, I researched the area... Mandrem is the name of the village. It's set on a small hill as you approach by road and leading down to the beach one inside the hotel property. My flight arrived in Goa at 2:15am and reached the hotel by 3:30am after clearing Customs and the hour drive from the airport. You can get a pre-paid taxi to the hotel for approx $22 (cheaper on the way back to the airport). Check-in was smooth and luggage was carried to the cottage by the front desk attendant. He made sure everything in the room was in working order before leaving. When morning broke, the view from the cocowood cottage was just as pictured in hotels.com; breathtaking with the Indian Ocean and the river before you. There are several beach shacks near the hotel, with the famous "End of the World Restaurant" just meters from the hotel on the beach. The hotel's breakfast was included and nothing fancy but good. (had the omelette with toasts and masala tea) Roy and Lauren (restaurant supervisor and waiter were great and attentive) NOTE: because the cottages are built in an eco-friendly fashion, there are palm trees right over the cottages and in some cases, the cottage was built with the palm tree going thru the inside of the cottage like mine.... Expect a coconut or two to fall and hit the cottage's roof. :) Overall experience with this property, my room, the entire staff and the village was outstanding and cannot wait to return.

Comfortable stay but could have been better
Me and my husband stayed for a night. We had a hassle free and peaceful time here at riva. Ideal for a couple hangout . for group hangouts better to go to Baga and Calanagute beaches. Food was decent but crab specialties were not available. Proximity to beach is a plus point as well as the hotel staff was very helpful. Though breakfast spread was limited. Overall, a nice place but the staff needs to work on cleanliness of upholstery. The beach beds in our balcony had a lot of stains on it.

Hotel is still under construction. So be ready for rooms with hanging electric cables, uncovered water pipes. Best location, almost a private beach. Have both river view and sea view. Couldn't have stayed at any better place than this for the price paid.

Awful, just awful!
We did NOT get the room we paid for and the room we did get had an extremely strong pungent smell of excrement. The room and especially the bathroom were very poor - TV didn't work till 3rd day, the safe didn't work properly and the walls had holes which let daylight in! The room we did get was called a 'Bungalow' but to us it was a hut! Do not be enticed by words describing the 'Bungalows' as 'luxury' or 'deluxe' as they are so far short of an average person's expectation that these words tend to generate.
