"Room stank of cigarette smoke. Really dated decorative state. Lots of marks and damage in our room. It's convenient with the large free car park. But definitely needs a new lease of life injected into it. Reception staff not really helpful. But bar staff tried"

"This was our second stay at Fowlescombe Farm and it only reinforced our view that it is one of the most special places to stay in the UK. This time we stayed in the Pond Suite, which was every bit as beautifully designed and comfortable as our previous accommodation, with lovely views across the surrounding countryside. Being one of just three rooms within the Farmhouse, we particularly enjoyed having direct access to the spacious, well-equipped kitchen and the cosy lounge areas...

"Very friendly staff - Nicky was fantastic- got up early Saturday morning to make us perfect porridge before our ‘Bantham Swoosh’ 6 km swim! Also loved their fish and chips the night before. Very comfy bed and great power shower. Great value too. 2nd morning we had their wonderful Full English breakfast. Can definitely recommend. Nicky went above and beyond. Thank you"

"We booked this hotel very last minute and it was one of the few left available in the area. The staff were lovely although the manager was less so helpful and rather lazy! Rooms were clean but very tired and need a complete update including the plumbing where water drains so slowly from the sink and the toilet flush almost impossible to do! They no longer do any sort of food which is a shame as the website shows a dining area and people enjoying the menu. The atmosphere was zero in the evening...

"Hope Cove is a lovely place to stay. Food at the Hope and Anchor was five star. Staff were friendly. We did feel however that certain parts needed more attention. There was thick dust under the dresser in restaurant area. There is a paying car park next door which was £12 for 24 hours."

"Sumptuous beds a mile high with pillow soft toppers and silken sheets. Staff lovely, restaurant nice. Had rear room so no sea view but still nice open field to caravan site and balcony a 6pm sun trap, perfect for a pre dinner read. The extras the hotel offer make it fabulous; a room to store paddle board, lending you wetsuits, beach and picnic stuff etc. Car park busy (July) but nice chaps managing to help everyone. South Sands in front of you, rather challenging hill to next door North Sands...

"Our stay was okay, but I’d say expensive for what it was. It has a relatively dated interior, with no air con (biggest issue) - as even in 22-25 degrees, the room was like a sauna. Also, you pay £20 per night for a dog, and don’t even get a food bowl or dog bed. All that was provided for our dog was a water bowl. Not sure what we’re paying £20 per night for."

"Nice modern, quirky hotel in great location for City Centre, Hoe and Barbican. Staff were friendly and helpful. The bar area, that is also for check-in, has some really good seating areas for work or chilling. Room was great - very clean, comfy bed and good shower. On-site parking was easy, although it is £10 a day. It was a perfect stay for our needs."
