We had an amazing experience here. The staff were amazing, the rooms very comfortable, the food fantastic. It is a bit further away from the main activities of Hakone, but the team will help you navigate the bus system, which was relatively efficient.
Beautiful setting. High level service. Great food.

The perfect relaxing location for anyone looking for a peaceful break from the bustle of Tokyo. The attentive service made the stay even more stress free and relaxing. The meals were exceptional and delivered in cozy private dinning space. I will be recommending this to anyone thinking of going to Japan.
The property was new, very beautiful, private onsen was 10/10 and super relaxing. Would definitely recommend for someone wanting to try an onsen experience.
After a long trip across Japan, this stay was exactly what I needed. The hotel, amenities and staff were all fantastic. The bedroom was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever stayed at. The private onsen helped rejuvenate my body after days of walking and helped me feel brand new again and ready to conquer the last leg of my trip and not to mention the food at this establishment was for lack of a better word, insane. Highly recommend a detour to hakone and this property.
Wonderful property. The food is incredible, the staff is first class and the rooms are spacious and wonderful. I can’t to come back.

The cuisine was amazing and the staff was both attentive and friendly. Ask for clarity on anything you are unsure of-onsen customs and room temperature, etc.
The ryokan feels very good, new yet also traditional and quiet.
Facility/Amenities: Heated tatami floors are good taste. Things I loved in the room - 3D shower, Dyson hair dryer, foot massage machine. The reserved bath is great. The public bath is small for a public one but I ended up being the only person at the time I used it so that was ok. Things I didn't like - it is too bad the bath tub in the room was bath salt based. I also didn't expect an uphill going to the ryokan from the bus stop so that was exhausting.
Food: Food was good, especially breakfast. (Dinner options is sukiyaki and shabu shabu so they are just expected level)Things I wish were available - for the price, I feel like food service could have been in the room.
Service: I felt the management is putting a lot of effort in providing English speaking staff, but I preferred, at least, the option, of Japanese speaking staff. Explanation of food for example, was very simple. A few words, which does not do justice to the quality of the food being served.
We had the most amazing stay at this ryokan. The hotel provides dinner and breakfast. Both meals were exceptional. Probably the best breakfast I have ever eaten which included rice, soup noodles, variety of pickled veggies, grilled mackerel, cooked tofu and fruit for dessert. You also get a 45min private onsen/ open air bath scheduled for you. The hotel also provides slippers, robs and pajama's. Loved the room and atmosphere for this ryokan tucked away in the quiet mountains.
Wonderful accommodation.
Meals were amazing, and were worth the value of the stay in itself. If you aren’t wanting to indulge in kaiseki they also offer the option of both Japanese and Western meals.
Breakfast and dinner are both included in stay, and both were highlights of my time in Japan.
You are given 24/7 access to the public Onsen, and able to book the private Onsen for 45minute blocks per day.
The staff spoke great English, and were super helpful in giving recommendations for the day, and forwarding our luggage to our next stay.
We had the best experience, started as soon as we arrived at the hotel until we left. Food was great, had a private hot spring room everyday. Initially we were concerned about convenience of transportation. Hotel stuff sent and picked us up from nearby places and bus stops. The only less than perfect thing is the weather, raining everyday during our stay. But it gives the perfect reason and motivation to come back. Will be our first choice next time when booking hotel in Haneda.
The Centurion Hakone Bettei is a serene and beautifully designed ryokan that excels in hospitality, cleanliness, and overall comfort. The staff are exceptionally attentive, often providing personalized service and helpful shuttle support that enhances the stay. Rooms are peaceful and thoughtfully styled, many with private onsen baths that offer a relaxing, intimate experience. Meals—especially dinner—are generally delicious and well presented, adding to the sense of luxury.
That said, the hotel’s quiet setting also means it’s a bit remote, so transportation can be less convenient. We found the private baths smaller than expected, and breakfast leans more Japanese than Western. Prices are on the higher side compared to simpler ryokans, which may affect value for those prioritizing convenience or larger facilities.
Overall, Centurion Hakone Bettei is an excellent choice if you’re seeking a tranquil, high-service retreat—perfect for unwinding, but less ideal for travelers who want easy access to sightseeing or budget-friendly options.
