Beautiful building with clean and comfortable rooms. It was amazing value for money considering the continental breakfast was included. Lots of great options and delivered to your room at your time of choice. Host was friendly when I met him briefly in the morning. Being able to access my room key in the lock box outside was great as I arrived a lot later than planned. Highly recommend. 😄

Cozy hideaway
Traveling solo and this was a wonderful respite from the crowded streets. Lovely breakfast and cozy room. Felt like I was staying at a relative's home. I walked to the castle when weather was nice. I would stay again!

Nice guest host in Scotland
Excellent guest house with a very Knowledgeable owner. It is a block away from a bus stop taking you to downtown taking approx 15 min.

We spent 3 nights at Dorstan House and would thoroughly recommend it. Richard is an attentive host who provides a delicious breakfast in your room. The property is well located, within walking distance of the old town, and the room is spacious and comfortable. Thanks for a great stay!

Great solo location
The staff was fantastic and it was very clean. Couldnt beat the location. Only 10 minute bus ride to the mile and the bus stop was only a block away.

Lovely quiet neighbourhood close to transportation. Excellent breakfast. Most hospitable in arranging taxis and fielding questions about the area and best places to dine. Richard was most helpful in every way.

It was located in a good quiet neighbourhood . The breakfast was quite delicious. Richard was very helpful in helping us with the public transportation.

A very nice Guest House with wonderful hosts. They have done a great job making a traditional building warm and welcoming. I walked into Town (1-2 miles), but the hotel is close to a bus route, and there are plenty of taxis in Edinburgh. No dining area, but breakfast was brought to the room at a time of your choosing (between 0800 and 0930). The choice and quality of the food was extremely good! I was using the room for work during the second day, and so didn't want the room turned over, but I was give plenty of milk and more filtered coffee by the host. Overall, a very pleasant stay.

We had the best time staying at the Dorstan Guest House. The perfect place to stay when visiting Edinburgh. Close to all attractions. Richard was the perfect host and the breakfast was delightful!

Richard the proprietor was very cordial and accommodating. Nice selection of breakfast items including traditional food. The location was in a nice quiet residential neighborhood near a bus stop.

A good place to stay
A pleasant experience. The staff were helpful and accommodating, the room was clean and comfortable. Excellent choice of breakfast with the added advantage of it being delivered to the room.

Lovely location, very clean rooms, quiet enough and attentive hosts. Water pressure and mattress could be better but this is a budget option so totatlly understandable. I would stay there again.

Sehr sympathischer Kontakt (Ronald). Ich hatte ein super niedliches, kleines Zimmer mit eigenem Bad. Alles was ich brauchte. Ich wollte Bewußt ein älteres Gebäude, passte definitiv. sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Lage sehr gut. Ruhig. Bushaltestelle ca 3 Minuten von der Unterkunft- schnell im Zentrum. Ich war sehr zufrieden und werde sicher wieder mal dort buchen.

A super lovely 2 night stay, the room was beautiful and richard was a great friendly host and was very helpful regarding bus routes. Breakfast was delivered perfectly on time and was amazing. Perfect distance from the town (30 minute walk) and on site car park was a bonus.

What a splendid little spot. Richard was very thoughtful, helpful, and polite! The room was very well priced in a quiet area, with a very comfy bed and well stocked kettle! Breakfast was delicious - and even brought to my room! If I were to have any constructive comments, it would be about the shower - awfully temperamental, it seems to flit between hot and cold. But would I stay again? Absolutely. In a heartbeat! A real gem of a spot.

We only stayed one night, we were passing through Edinburgh. The gentleman who welcomed us was extremely attentive, revealed to us on the map about tourist spots and how to get there by bus. He took us and we were shown to our room with a wonderful view. The room was very clean, organized and with everything we needed for our stay. Breakfast the other day was served in the room at the appointed time, all well prepared with the options we requested. It was a very good experience, we will be back.

Excellent stay, fantastic fresh breakfast. Communication with Richard was fantastic, and flexible with my requests. Covid safe environment. Bus stop 2 mins walk away, £1.80 in to the city. would recommend and I will return.

Lovely overnight stay
Richard was a really good host. Everything was clean, bedroom was lovely with a comfy bed and I like the idea of having a tasty breakfast delivered to the room. Very easy to get to by bus from the city centre as well (15 minutes), would definitely consider staying again the next time I visit Edinburgh.

Comfortable stay in a wonderful city.
Richard was a friendly and helpful host who did a good breakfast under difficult conditions.However there one or two niggles,the door to the wardrobe stuck on the carpet and the space inside was too narrow for clothes hangers.Otherwise a good 4 night stay.

Lovely place with beautiful features inside - stained glass window , wide stairs and chandeliers. Nice to have pre-ordered breakfast delivered to room. Host was very helpful on arrival,giving us a map and explaining bus numbers and how they worked with payment. Were re visiting days of old and shall definitely use this place again next visit to Edinburgh.
