"This is the first negative review I've ever had to give. We stayed at The Golden Lion Hotel St. Ives. (13-14 Feb) We stayed in Room 20 which was very small and had the constant, very loud noise of the kitchen extractor humming. On the first night it was still on at 10.45pm and we had to ask Reception to deal with it and then it was back on, waking us up at 7pm. "Nice room (though the bathroom lacked a shelf for you to put your stuff) and well appointed. The parking was irksome (and even though hardly anyone was using it day and night the staff gave me a tedious "if we break a rule for you we'd have to do it for everyone" admonishment.) Frankly it was fine but not really £250-worth of value."

For a superior room I was expecting a bigger more comfortable bed. We could not open the window at night because it is very low down and wild life could easily get through at night. "The room was huge, beautifully clean and well equipped. Every member of the staff was very helpful, friendly and engaging. Parking was easy and secure and the grounds were impeccable. The breakfast was made to order and it was fabulous. We only stayed the one night and wished we had stayed longer. We look forward to returning very soon. "
