"Modern renovation, while retaining some original features (e.g. flagstone floor in cafe area). Clean and comfortable. Everything was self service so no staff on site (a bit impersonal but not really an issue). Definitely a good option for fellow solo visitors to the area."

Complimentary soaps & shower gel were appreciated, as were the coffee/tea/biscuits which were good quality. The room was tastefully decorated & had a lovely calm feel to it. The bed was very comfortable & breakfast was fresh & delicious with lots of choice. Would highly recommend & we will stay here again."

"I brought my girlfriend here for a long weekend stay for her birthday, from start to finish it was a lovely stay, our room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, breakfast was extremely good with plenty of options, staff are all very friendly and helpful. Very close to york itself and found it easier to just Uber in rather than drive. The fat abbot was nice, didnt have food there but had a few drinks, reasonably priced, friendly, warm and welcoming.
