"Really enjoyed my stay here! The hotel is in a fantastic location, just a short walk from the historic center and all the festive Christmas markets. My room was spotless, modern, and bigger than expected. The buffet breakfast was a highlight with plenty of choices, both hot and cold. Staff were friendly and everything felt well cared for. "Arrived around 11pm, they was no staff member on site but the have a very clear telephone number on the door and the staff member helped straight away over the phone. Špilberk Castle is a castle on the hilltop in Brno, Southern Moravia. Its construction began as early as the first half of the 13th century by the Přemyslid kings and complete by King Ottokar II of Bohemia. From a major royal castle established around the mid-13th century, and the seat of the Moravian margraves in the mid-14th century, it was gradually turned into a huge baroque fortress considered the harshest prison in the Austro-Hungarian empire, and then into barracks. This prison had always been part of the Špilberk fortress.
