"This is a lovely hotel with fitness club, golf course, etc.. We didn't use any of these as we were just passing through. Very nice room and surroundings. One thing could be done to improve the experience - clean the upholstery on the chairs in the breakfasting room."

"Staff were great but there simply wasn't enough of them. The lift was out of service or faulty and the stairs are great for someone with a temporary disability. The breakfast staff were very happy and helpful and produced some queality food and refreshments - thank you"

"A lovely clean room.....staff were very friendly and helpful...breakfast was fresh and good. Bar was busy with very friendly customers. We traveled down from Scarborough for football v Buxton...after the game the bar was very busy but the home supporters made us very welcom."

"Stayed for business. Wifi poor, furniture very worn, generally needs some TLC. TV had no signal and staff seemed to be aware of issue but it has never been fixed. Food good ans parking easy."

"Everything about this hotel was perfect. Easy parking, beautiful grounds, lovely clean room with complimentary drinks, fridge, and tea & coffee making facilities. Bath and shower, comfortable beds; lovely, helpful staff. Tasty breakfast, everything you could want, and excellent evening meals. Dogs were allowed, but not in the main house. They didn't really bother us, just a few "yappy" ones. Definitely Five Stars"

"3 night stay over Easter. Pub was clean and comfortable although bed mattress was very firm which meant disturbed sleep for stay. Owners very welcoming. Breakfast was 8-9am which I felt was a little early as we usually like to have a lazy wake up without having to have alarm on so wasnt as relaxing as we would have liked. Breakfast was good but simple so would not have wanted to stay any longer. 1 or 2 nights at the most. No fruit or alternatives and not asked if we preferred eggs cooked...

"The property has great character and the potential to offer a great stay. However with the ‘spa’ being separate and an eye watering £50 for 3 or 4 hours I decided to decline this option (and leave it to the Hen Parties). The rest of the hotel is honestly a bit tired and if you end up in the annexe at the back then good luck with the noise from guests talking loudly, toilet flushing and OH. MY. GOD. The peakocks. "Lovely room, perfect for relaxing after a day out walking. Chosen because it was dog friendly and it did not disappoint - good for walking into town and loved that there was a map showing us how to get there by avoiding the main road. Breakfasts were delicious! Thank you for our stay."
