"One word - avoid. What ypu see in the description and in reviews is NOT what you get. The room was facing the main road and the constant, non-stop noise was unbearable. The breakfast was horrible. £12.50 extra for 1x burnt bacon, uncooked hash brown and a pathetic looking uncooked sausage. Plus a fried egg complete with a hair. "Fantastic cosy room. Lovely shower , comfy bed. The check in is via phone and a key safe . The room was well stocked and very clean. Main problem is the doors to rooms don’t have quiet closing so when the ignorant other guests go in and out there is constant slamming of doors. We stayed in the room with exposed beams and it was very well thought out . Good for walking holiday due to location."

"The room was very clean and spacious. Bed comfortable. Food left for us was much appreciated and everything we needed really. Staff member on at the weekend was very personable and most helpful when we enquired about public transport, etc. Hotel was in a very convenient place for us as we had to go to a concert at Blenheim. We had a very nice stay overall, would definitely return."

"I enjoy a hotel that makes you feel like the location… not some generic place that looks the same in every location. The Porterhouse was great in that regard, made me feel like I was in Oxford. Clean and comfy room and great location. Staff was great and helpful in every way! Breakfast was nice. I would definitely stay again!"

"Stayed here during the heatwave in a twin room. Fan was provided which was very much needed. We dropped our bags earlier in the daytime and were met by the host. She was very welcoming and friendly. We were given our key so we didn’t have to return later to check in. We also left our luggage there until time to go home which was much appreciated. Very decent shower and comfy beds. Excellent host"

"This older home was well maintained and comfy. It was close to the centre of Banbury and down the hill to Banbury Cross and the statue of the lady on the horse. Breakfast is included and there is a wide range of cold or hot meal options; there is a kettle in the room with tea bag’s and coffee packs with sugar and UHT milk made it easy to have a hot drink in your room early morning or in the evening.
