"We were going to cruise the next day. Hotel was beautiful, comfortable, convenient. We were very close to the port. Conveniently located near a great pub restaurant-Duke of Wellington. Would love to have stayed there longer."

"It was 29C and zero AC (or air cooling) as they called it. We baked. No water available to purchase. It was unbearable. Whenever we went to the desk the staff wouldn't make eye contact with us... luckily it was only one night."

"Room was clean. The room had working air conditioning. Breakfast was excellent. Would recommend this Southampton hotel. Location was adequate with goid access to the train station and a lengthy (30 minutes) walk to the old town center. For the American travelers, the hotel does not provide wash cloths with the towels. Odd. Nonetheless, a very nice hotel."

"Lovely setting, great welcome, food superb, staff friendly and helpful We had the suite (kingfisher) which was an excellent room except for a radiator being stuck on in the bathroom. The lady in charge (lovely lass) managed to get it sorted as the outside temp was up in the 30’s!!! If I have any criticism of the room, a little use of bleach would have gone a long way but please don’t let that put you off. The place is very very good. This is our second time staying and it definitely won’t be...

"Food poisoning the first night, rooms hotter than the sun, zero water pressure in the bathrooms. Constantly chasing staff for the most simple things. They ran out of ice. No fans for the rooms. No one collecting glasses or emptying an ash tray. Asked for a coffee in the morning and waited 15 minutes.. got up to ask where it was "oh i couldn't find you" yeah because you were in the kitchen flirting with the chef.. Could be such a wonderful place, if the staff weren't recreating Fawlty Towers"
