"The front desk staff did their best to accommodate our needs. As at the Homewood Suites in Greenville, the access to WiFi was a problem. We were unable to make the login process work.
The lack of a complementary breakfast is a shortcoming for this property."
Hotel Ballast Wilmington, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
10/10 Excellent
"The location of Hotel Ballast is very nice, located on the river with a beautiful view of the sunset. It’s well maintained with the most helpful and friendly staff. One evening, a neighboring room had some rowdy kids running around and banging on the walls around midnight. I texted the front desk and within two minutes (not an exaggeration) they addressed it and the neighbors settled their kids down. I was completely impressed with their professionalism in this situation.
I would certainly return for another visit to Wilmington!"
"What a beautiful property. Everything was maintained and the room was gorgeous. I enjoyed sitting by the fire one of the nights. We ate brunch and even had a cocktail at the gazebo. I will definitely be back!"
SpringHill Suites® by Marriott® Wilmington Wrightsville Beach
4/10 Poor
"The room was clean but worn. The elevator and 2nd floor, where we stayed, had a strong, strange smell that I couldn't place.
The lady that checked us made us feel unwelcome."
"I would have rated it higher except for the Manager Caitlin. Her attitude is of a correctional officer where the guests don’t have a choice where they stay. She should not work in the hospitality industry whatsoever, she’s rude, abrupt, and needs to realize guests have choices where we spend our money. She might have won the battle, but she definitely lost this war. I recommend to her that she should never speak to guests again, doubtful it will stick. Good luck, stay at your own risk. "
Courtyard by Marriott Wilmington / Wrightsville Beach
2/10 Terrible
"When we arrived, the front desk informed us that because our booking was made through Expedia, they had not yet received payment and could not check us in. We were asked to wait, and after about 20 minutes, the same staff member contacted a manager. The manager then advised them to proceed with check-in and handle the Expedia payment on the back end.
By the time we were finally checked in, we had already been waiting over 20 minutes. Unfortunately, we were in town for a wedding and ended up being late because of this delay. This was especially frustrating given that the reservation was prepaid.
I do appreciate the manager stepping in to resolve the issue, but the initial experience at check-in was disappointing. Because of this, I would not choose to book here again and would not recommend it."
