The Tower Hotel, by Thistle

"The hotel staff was so friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean though a little dated. They are currently under renovations so future guests may see some room updates and repairs. The location was AMAZING, not far from the Tower Hill Station and just a short walk to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, good restaurants and small shops. It was convenient to have the restaurant on site, staff was hit or miss with service, food was fine though a little pricey, even for the area."

"We love a Virgin hotel, and the room/bathroom was well modern and planned, with the comfiest bed, like always. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed going to the bar on the ground floor. However, we did want to note a couple of things, that would possibly put us off staying here again. We were not informed until when we arrived that the rooftop bar and terrace are NOT owned by the hotel (despite being in all their photos). We noted that the service and staff upstairs were definitely not to Virgin's standards. The pool is very overlooked by the bar, and the bar was packed both evenings we were there, with loud music (we could it from the lift lobby on the second floor). We wouldn't expect the pool to be pretty much unusable at 6.30pm on a Sunday night, due to how busy and loud the bar was next door, with an event unrelated to the hotel. My husband was almost refused entry one night as well, as the event in the bar was "girls only". This made the pool, one of the main features of this hotel, very unpleasant and almost impossible to use for two evenings of our stay, which was very disappointing, and worth pointing out to future clients. Also, the hotel maintenance (especially of the rooftop/pool but also parts of the room) were not up to scratch for the cost of this hotel. The pool deck was particularly grubby, and didn't feel up to the hotel's standard. A great hotel - just needs a little love and maintenance, and to sort out the rooftop issues."

"Just back from a lovely 2 night stay. We came to London to celebrate my mum's 60th birthday, this was also her first time visiting London. We were extremely early but the hotel was happy to hold our bags until check in so we could go off and explore London. We came back at check in to lovely refreshments being offered before going up to our room we were upgraded to.a beautiful executive room with an incredible view of the tower br bridge. Whethe hotel was lovely and quiet. Very comfy beds, really helpful staff, and an excellent location with a tube . We would definitely stay here again."

"Executive room was a great size, with a comfortable bed and seating area. The bathroom had a bath and separate shower cubicle. The aircon was very effective and not too noisy. Made use of the pool which was larger than I expected. The executive lounge was a good benefit and we made use of it in the evening and for a light breakfast in the mornings. Great location and would recommend."

"Great location for touristy stuff! Right across from the Tower Bridge and multiple of the city sightseeing tour bus stops. Tube access to the District/Circle line right around the corner from the hotel entrance as well. If you have any early flights to Stansted and/or Luton airports, night tube will not be accessible so be aware. Otherwise, the rooms were clean, the staff were exceptional & professional. Will definitely be returning in the future!"

"Great location easy to catch the metro into central London or to O2. There was plenty of restaurants near by in all price ranges. The rooms and beds were tiny considering its an apartment hotel. No point in cooking as you there was no room to sit and eat, the option of cooking was why we choose this hotel, so a bit disappointed when we saw the size of the room. Bathroom was ok and it was quiet even on the weekend. All in all a good option if you don’t mind the size."
