A natural lagoon, just beautiful!
Playa Vega Baja, also known as Playa Puerto Nuevo and La Playa Sucia is a serene little beach sheltered from the windy North Atlantic swells by a quarter mile long natural rock wall. The waters are calm, clear, and shallow, perfect for snorkeling, swimming, and playing. There are some natural pools that form when sea water overtops the rock walls and provide a natural alternative for those afraid of the open waters. This is one of the best calm beaches within an hour of San Juan, and a favorite of locals. There’s plenty of parking and lots of vendors selling food, drink, and beach gear to visitors. #puertorico
This beautiful beach is about half hour or so from San Juan (not sure how easy it would be to get here with public transportation- we had a rented jeep). The waves are blocked by rocks which create calmer pools of water for kayaking and swimming. We saw at least 4 food trucks as well. The beach was busy on a holiday but we didn't notice any other tourists.
