Large, comfortable room with a modern en-suite. Very amenable and accommodating hosts with nice ideas such as putting on complimentary food in the bar during England World Cup games. We had a “simple” pie & chips from the menu and it was terrific with, as promised, real gravy. We didn’t have full English breakfast but the toast on the Continental option from a local artisan baker was fab. Lots of little touches that make the Royal Oak a little different from the ordinary.

Lovely traditional pub, nice rooms, clean and tidy and equipped with all the essentials. Good menu and helpful service in pub. I phoned ahead to advise of a late arrival (flight delayed) and they were kind enough to accept our food order after usual end of service time. We were most grateful. There's a pleasant outside seating area and lots of inside seating. Board games galore. Highly recommend.

Lovely hotel for a few days while at a wedding. Clean and spacious room with effective shower. Coincided with the Chester Folk Festival in the village, so evenings were really lively. As we were with friends in the village, we didn't have a main meal at the pub / hotel, but my daughter's snack was excellent. The menu had plenty of choices. Only disappointment was that cooked breakfasts were not available, but a good selection of light food was provided. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Excellent bar with four draft beers.

Looking for a convenient location to stay while over watching the bikes at Oulton Park. Brilliant location and brilliant stay. Rooms were clean and spacious with a comfy bed. Staff were brilliant, both behind and front of bar. Ate there 2 nights, fantastic both times. Another cracking pub within walking distance. Continental breakfast spot on. Would I stay again, without a doubt.

Check in was straight forward, and we were shown to our room. Room was clean and ready for us. After showering and getting changed , we went to the bar for a beer. Good choice of beers , and the bar staff were very friendly. Enjoyed our food there too. Breakfast was lovely , and we left feeling refreshed and well fed. We were walking the Sandstone Trail , so it was an ideal stop over for us. Highly recommended

We were greeted on arrival the hotel was really busy they had live music on and the place was full but the owner gave us a quick tour and assisted us with our luggage to our rooms the rooms were lovely clean and inviting everything we needed was provided shampoo bodywash nice soft towels hairdryer they brought us fresh milk in a small flask so we coukd make tea or coffee beds were comfortable in the morning we came downstairs to a wonderful continental breakfast with lots of fresh fruit fresh croissants and toast again excellent service

This was an amazing find. The rooms were very spacious beautiful decorated and very warm. Staff were all really helpful and friendly. We ate in the restaurant on the evening and the meal was delicious. Loved the decor of the bar/restaurant and the open fires and candles created a very homely feel. Reasonably priced too.

Really lovely

The room was lovely-much better than I’d expected. The staff were very friendly. We had an evening meal and although the menu range was quite limited, I still had trouble choosing and what you are eventually served with is high quality and presented really carefully. The only blot on the copybook was that my Mum, who I was sharing with, was the first to use the toilet and on lifting the lid was greeted by a bowl full of pungent waste. Other than that this was a lovely place to locate ourselves for access to Oulton Park

First class service. The owners and staff couldn’t have done more . The hotel rooms are lovely and the restaurant has good food. We loved this hotel and will definately go back.
