Gardens are quite special. Rooms are large and comfortable but not that well furnished. Restaurant was quite good. Service was attentive. I would give this an 8 out of 10.
Reading guest reviews is a 'must do' before booking any hotels in CR
We stayed here for 3 nights when we first arrived in Costa Rica. The staff were very friendly & the breakfast was good, unfortunately we never ate dinner there because we got in late on our first night, the second night of our stay there was a wedding taking place and the third night we had other dinner plans. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable (all the beds in Costa Rica could use some improvement). We would have gone back except we wanted to try another area of the city before going home, this was definitely one of the nicer hotels we stayed in while travelling around CR.
I lived in San Jose for years and moved in 2010. When I went back in December for vacation I wanted to stay here as I used to eat at the restaurant frequently. The restaurant is still fabulous but the hotel was dismal. The whole room needed upgrades and tlc.
