With new safety guidelines in place, travel looks a bit different today. These are some handy things to know before you get on that plane to Saadiyat Island:

• Before locking in your flight, check if any travel bans or restrictions apply — in both your destination and origin. Get the latest updates by reviewing government and airport websites.
• Keep your face mask on even during airport screening. A TSA employee will ask you to temporarily lower your mask to verify your identity.
• You're no longer required to hand your boarding pass (electronic or paper) directly to a TSA officer. Rather, place your pass on the reader and then hold it up so the agent can inspect it.
• You can take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on bag. This will need to be taken out for X-ray scanning.
• Remove personal items from your pocket, like your phone and wallet, and put them in your carry-on rather than into bins. This will minimize handling during the screening process.
• If you're planning to take food through the screening checkpoint, put it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This reduces the likelihood that a TSA agent will need to handle your carry-on bag or food container for closer inspection.
