"Guesthouse was well maintained and clean. Breakfast was good, but basic. It is about a 20 minute walk from most of the main sights of the city, and the walk back is largely uphill. There are lots of good local restaurants and cafes around the area. Check-in was quick and staff were helpful at this point. However we had issues with power in our room, and since there is no-one permanently at the property, it took a while to get it fixed. Check-out was also an issue because there isn't a member...

"The FLH was a great value. We got one of the upgraded rooms and had both a balcony and a little dining table facing French doors with a wonderful view of the city. Bed was comfortable and breakfast in our rooms every morning was a treat. The only thing to be aware of, particularly as an American traveler is that the common spaces don’t appear to be air conditioned much if at all and the room air conditioning only works when you have a room key inserted in the plug, and thus with only one room...

"A lovely retreat overlooking the Douro, only 11 bedrooms so it’s very quiet and relaxing. Everything about the property is perfect, clean, fabulous staff and a wonderful breakfast with loads of choices. Tucked away but a short and cheap Uber or Bolt ride into the city centre or to the beaches."
