This establishment seems to have been deliberately designed to give an old-fashioned, maybe French colonial feel to it, and largely succeeds. It’s set in peaceful surroundings by the river just outside of Pai itself (there is a free buggy service to and from the town).
The amenities are generally good, and the room we had was comfortable, clean, and had a nice view over the swimming pool towards a backdrop of forested hills. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
We used the restaurant a few times for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is very pricey for Pai. The menu is limited, and concentrates on European food. The quality of the food was OK, but portions are not large. If you’re searching for European food, this a sure option, but for Thai food, you need to get the buggy into Pai. To be picky, the menu had a few spelling mistakes for Italian dishes. Rather surprising given the existence of the Internet and what must have been the cost of printing the menus. The descriptions of some dishes on the menu were not accurate, as we discovered when we asked for more details from the waiter.
You need to be careful if you are disabled, as there are a lot of steps throughout the place. We don’t have disabilities, but did notice that it might be a bit of an issue for those who have.
All in all, despite the minor comments above, this is a good place to stay if you’re looking for a bit of tranquility while remaining in easy reach of Pai itself.
