The old town of Olten (across the river from the railway station) is very nice with lots to discover. The town itself, easily reached from Basel and Zurich airports is the perfect base from which to tour Switzerland.

Second time I’ve stayed at the hotel as convenient for the train station. However no mention of a city tax payment required on arrival which normally you get informed about before booking any hotel.
