With new COVID-19 rules and measures in place, travel looks a lot different at the moment. Here are a few things to know before you head off to Northern Beaches:

• Before booking your flight, see if any travel bans or restrictions apply — in both your destination and origin. Get the latest updates by reviewing government and airport websites.
• You must wear a face mask throughout your travel experience, including at screening checkpoints. You should be prepared to lower your mask for ID verification when asked by a TSA officer.
• You're no longer required to hand your boarding pass (electronic or paper) directly to a TSA employee. Rather, place your pass on the scanner and then hold it up for the agent to visually inspect it.
• TSA is now allowing passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on luggage. This will have to be removed from your bag at the X-ray machine for scanning.
• To reduce handling during the screening process, place items such as your keys, wallet, phone and belt into your carry-on rather than the bins.
• If you're bringing food on board, put it in a clear plastic bag and then into a scanning bin. This reduces the likelihood that a TSA officer will need to handle your carry-on bag or food container for inspection.
