Consider the cost, can not complain much, but it would be great if there is courtesy bus to KUSATSU BUS TERMINAL as some other hotels has.

It was relatively cheap but the hotel is quite old and dated. The buffet dinner and breakfast is good value for money. Note there is no shuttle bus from bus station to the hotel. The 7 minutes walk is hard if you have heavy luggage.
This was amazing onsen beside the Yubatake (which is right in front on the hotel) so you are in the middle of the town they have Yukata you can borrow and take wear to walk and take pictures outside too.
Breakfast and dinner had a lot of options and was really good. Make sure to Book Hal-Board, it is worth it! They have onsen eggs for breakfast too!
The only downside is that it is a bit old and the walls are thin so can be noisy when people talk on the hallway
but Overall this was an amazing hotel and will come back again!

Onsen hotel next to Yubatake
I want to start off by saying I had a nice visit, I did the half board option and the food was plentiful and very tasty. Lots of variety, the sushi was not good and their take on Western food isn't great but the Japanese food is awesome. 2 different Onsen areas that alternate gender daily so you can try both. The hotel is old, let's just prepare you for this, really old. It could do with a massive makeover but I doubt it will happen as they are very busy due to the amazing location. If you are Japanese you will find it very run down, I was disappointed on my first day but by the second day I had moved past it. It is old (Showa era) so it was a smoking hotel, the rooms smell like smoke, not much you can do. Staff was very friendly and helpful, free Yukaya rental and a bag to carry stuff, you can pick different colours of Yukaya as well. Right across the street from Yubatake, lots of little shopping spots and short walk to everything, even the open air park Onsen. Watch the show of the traditional cooling, it is neat. Very relaxing trip, better as a romantic trip, not a lot to actually do in town so it forces you to unwind and relax. Short walk from the Kusatsu bus terminal but downhill so if mobility is an issue they provide a free shuttle service. If you want a fancy hotel then this isn't it but it is not expensive and great location.
Room and property old, needs updating. Room draughty. Staff ok.

The hotel facilities and rooms are very old. There was a very strong smell of smoke in the room. We had to keep the window open all night even though it was very cold outside (–10°C). There were obvious stains on the tatami mat floor in the room. The staff member who helped us check in was a bit annoying and impolite. I wouldn’t recommend this place for families or group stays.

This hotel is fairly old-fashioned, but that’s what makes it unique. Despite the fairly decent condition of the room and the smell of smoke, it was alright. The con is we have to walk uphill to the bus terminal.
The room was okay, no hot water for shower, it was vey bad at winter to bath or shower. The living room was cold and not comfortable to sleep. Hotel did not provide shuttle bus from the JR bus station, it was hard to walk to hotel during winter season, the road wad icy !
This place is very old, so you can't expect much about the cleanliness. What we didn't like is the heater. The heater is old and the smell is very bad. We can smell the burning oil. Also there is no parking for this hotel.
