"The Inn is perfectly located for enjoying Kirkby Stephen. The staff - especially Jacqui - is super helpful and kind. Really enjoyed our brief time there. Our friends who stayed down the street were wishing they had booked here. Be prepared to carry luggage upstairs and know the bed isn’t super big by American standards. "

The pub itself is gorgeous, decorated beautifully, it is cosy and inviting and located in a lovely spot by the stream.Although the actual car park itself was small this was no problem as we parked literally a couple of minutes away on the lane, perfect as it allowed the opportunity to see a tiny red squirrel busy in a nearby tree. "Beautiful old Manor House, main area and particularly the day room were snug and cosy. Room had all the facilities required. Lovely white fluffy towels and clean linen. Pillows very hard (but that is preference). Majority of staff pleasant. Food excellent. SPA a bit tired in places but thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and the massage was lovely. Would book again. "

"We had a wonderful stay at Appleby Castle. We were made so welcome by hosts Sally and Peter. The room was adequate for a castle. Dinner was superb, a of mix of prawn and salmon starter followed by main course of garlic chicken. The setting was the in the beautiful dining room.
