"The location is excellent for the castle and cathedral. It’s an old building and therefore not ‘flashy’ but it has character. We received a friendly welcome and the staff team were very helpful. It’s a great base for visiting the old town. We did not have the time to see the town down the hill. You may have to park in the car park opposite and pay, as the hotel car park is quite small but there is space to drop off a guest if needed and then to park."

The Dower House Hotel

"We booked the Dower House as it was an ideal location for trips around the area. Visits to Lincoln cathedral, beach at Sandilands and Sutton on Sea, some National Trust places etc. By accident, we found a lovely little cinema just a 3 minute walk away from Dower House called the "Kinema in the woods". Very quaint and cheaper than mainstream cinemas. We had a room in the Anex building next to the main house and it was very quiet and peaceful. It was very clean and comfortable. Car parking was ample and you could use the main one or the one for the Anex as the two buildings were only 50 meters apart. No EV charging points but i would not mark down just because of this. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice and you could ask for specific things. The staff were very polite and helpful. Checkin and checkout was very easy. We really enjoyed our short stay here and would use this again if we were going to be in this area again."

"I stay at the Windmill regularly, the overall cleanliness is second to none, decor could do with freshening up a bit, but on the whole always a nice stay. The new manager and staff are very welcoming and extremely helpful. As an EV driver and 2 other EV's in the carpark, a charge point should be in place"

"On the positive: The reception staff were very welcoming, friendly and efficient. Rooms were clean. Location was excellent. Negative: bedding could do with an upgrade; sheets were rough, pillows were lumpy, beds (2x singles) were hard. Duvet was old and stiff and too narrow for the bed. Rooms are small! TV is tiny! Breakfast was adequate."

"Great position on Bailgate, close to castle and cathedral. Room had great modern ensuite but maintained the ancient feel in the bedroom, works well. Road was quiet soon after closing time, had a good Saturday night sleep. Excellent breakfast, quality ingredients! Really recommend if you like the old fashioned style!"

TV says Netflix and YouTube but you can’t connect to sign in Vomit sprayed up wall by front door was gross Ideal for swift stay, pub next door is awful so plan ahead or use the restaurant, we didn’t use the restaurant, bar or breakfast so I can’t comment there"
