"For our visit to the Big Island we stayed in Waikoloa but planned to visit the volcano. Due to the amount of driving involved we decided to spend one night in Hilo and selected the Hilo Hawaiian.
The property was clean and staff were pleasant and helpful. However the hotel is showing it's age. The furniture was beat up, curtains thin in spots and the sink had a crack. The amenities were very basic - TV, mini-fridge and hair dryer.
I had looked forward to sitting on the balcony and enjoying the view. But the balcony floor covering looked a little nasty, furniture uncomfortable and I had hoped for a better view.
One bonus was the Bull Shed restaurant on property. Not quite as good as Kauai's but still great menu choices.
Check in and out was easy and parking wasn't a problem."
