"Check in was a little confusing as there were no clear signs on where to check in. We were able to figure it out. "The staff were wonderful and so kind and helpful. We got in late after driving from tokyo after a 16 hour flight and we were so happy to walk into the room we had. It was clean, large and comfortable. When we woke up the next morning and opened our curtains we were met with the most gorgeous view of the ocean. The breakfast buffet was huge and had a wide variety of choices. You could enjoy eggs and bacon and pancakes or have a plate of sushi and a bowl of rice. Every breakfast drink you could think of. There was a vending machine on the first floor that had beer and water and juice and laundry facilities as well. Not to mention a spa and onsen. The beach was a short stroll from the back door through a beautiful walkway down the steps. If you find yourself in shimoda this is a wonderful choice for a place to call home."

"If you want a really roomy experience , stay in the 2-storey maisonette room which is like a big apartment. It’s amazing! So much space and privacy and direct access to the pool and beach from your balcony. The hotel is lovely, breakfast was excellent and the beach is beautiful. Staff spoke a variety of languages which was very helpful. This location is also good for visiting Amagiso outdoor waterfall onsen."

"The view from the hotel is magnificent. The Japanese style rooms are spacious and quiet. I speak survival level Japanese, but there were a lot of communication problems so be ready to have your translator handy. It’s best to have a car to get around the shuttle service was hard to schedule and when returning from the station, they leave exactly at the hour they won’t wait one minute for you during the crowded summer months you cannot get dinner served in your room so you have to eat and the buffet which had good quality for food, but it was still an expensive buffet"

"The room was fantastic. We loved it. The beds were so comfortable and the view was so beautiful. We used the onsen and it was magical because we had a full moon. The bath products they have for the guests and the onsen user are the best smelling shampoo, conditioner and body wash i have ever used in my 51 years. I don’t know if they sell it in town but if you are around look for them there because I think it’s unique to the area. The front desk was so friendly, even though we didn’t know Japanese. I recommend waking up early for the sunrise. We hope to return soon."
